ya know I hate this disturbing new trend by service people where problems and defects are assigned blame to the owner. it's beyond insulting, and just plain wrong. Thank God my dealer doesnt pull this horseshitt.

this reminds me of when i bought my mini...ordered...
i literally drove off the lot, shifted into second, and GRIIIIND....
quick u-turn back to the dealer, they told me its nothing and to drive it itll get better...
a month later...same thing...now they said its my fault i wore it down...2 months later...wont replace it wont do anything, told me i dont know how to drive...to top it all off, when i went to test drive with the tech, the tech told me "you drive your car too hard, you need to baby this car and not send it over 4krpm's" lolllllllllll....

i took to a different dealer, the guy drove it for like a minute...came back...his words "sychros are f**d up"...2 days later, had a new trans in my car, and tons of apologies...

And you know this how???

Sounds more like some urban legend.... Unless you were a production manager at Mini, I can't see how anyone could possibly make a statement like it was "general knowledge".

im with oc on this one...id prefer new than refurb...i dont care what kind of quality control people say they have...one guy fixes a broken item to work...the factory puts out brand new trans at working spec...very very few go bad like this...

4 days is definitely better than 12 weeks but still I wouldn't be happy.
