My dealer, the scammer

I've been meaing to post this for a while but never got around to it.

Okay, so most of my driving is highway. I drive about 60+ a day and it is the daily weekend driver. After 18 months I have close to 30,000. So mileage related items like brakes have a longer 'shelf life'. After taking 'Nigel' in for the first oil change, I pick it up and i am told

'we went ahead and changed out your front pads so you have to bring it in at 26,000 miles for brakes'.

Cool I think to myself. They're looking out for me. New pads. then I realized it about a month later as I am going throught the OBC information. My next brake job is now going to be at 37,000 according to the computer. This is the expensive one where they will also replace rotors in addition to pads. New rotors are delayed by the new pads so it seems to me they are deferring the complete brake job until after my free maint. ends [and I have to pay for it]. Slick eh? Well not so slick since I bought the 100.000 mile maint program [we don't need to debate it AGAIN here] so they will be paying anyway. Has that happened to anyone else out there?

Also my runcraps are finally wearing out at 30,000 so I can get somee good tires [Michelin Pilot Plus Ultra High Per formance All Sesaons] and 17 inch lighter wheels [Verde Protocols, they look a lot like the R99's]. I am also treating myslef to the JCW Stage 1 kit in the next few weeks.

I was under the impression the dealerships always changed the rotors when they changed the pads.. Do your rotors look new?

edit: that was only on the r53s. Rotors on the r56 aren't replaced if they haven't worn beyond a specific tolerance.

30K on run flats is a few miles better than average.

Switch out to a good summer non run flat and be ready for a change in the ride.

Awesome.

BTW I am at 41000 and still on the original pads. I must be doing it wrong?

I had 30K on my first MCS when I sold it. Tires were worn, but holding up well. I attribute it to rotating every five thousand miles. Let's see how I do on my Clubbie.

I have about 2,600 miles on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S PLUS tires and I am very pleased with this tire. Great ride, good crisp turn in and handling and quiet!! Traction on both wet and dry is good and the 45k mile tread warranty is a huge bonus. I had high expectations and they have been met

Mine only changes them when they get to the minimum thickness marked on the rotor, which is the BMW spec. At least they didn't change the rotors this year (at 16k for the MC and 7k for the MCS) when i got new pads.

Near the end of my lease (~36k miles) on my 07 S the rotors were worn enough to be replaced. I had switched to carbotech pads though.
