Keyless Entry NO SOUND

Hello,

I have a 08' MINI Cooper. Everything are great.

I have the Keyless Entry (No alarm system), everytime I use my remote to unlock/Lock my MINI, only the turn signal lights flashing, but no horn (NO SOUND).

Is it possible to program it and have the horn working when I unlock/ lock my MINI?

Thanks!!

Ken

No, you cannot be obnoxious in parking lots without the alarm system. In my MCS I can hear the locks actuating and see the buttons go up or down. Is that not enough for you?

It is really annying when you are walking past a car and some jerk honks his/her horn while locking the car.

emmm~, Robin.
I am really want to be the jerk who honks the horn.

I always go home late after work, and I always forgot where I parked my MINI. And you know, MINI is small and hinds itself behind some big trucks. If I can have it making a unlock/lock sound, then it will be much easy for me to find my MINI.

If you are in a parking lot alone late at night it may not be a good idea to unlock your car when you are not near it. You need a separate system to find your car. Perhaps something that just plays an audio saying "Hello, here I am."

I think you can also set a GPS or iPhone app to mark where you are and guide you to your car.

Hummm~, park in garage, so no GPS signal. iPhone app.? no iPhone in hand.

Seriously, if you can't remember where you parked your MINI, you have bigger problems to deal with.

Don't know if MINI's have this but you could always hit your panic button to annoy everyone and find your car...

No panic button. I think a lot of cars "honk if you like me locked up". I always hated it myself. I don't think I've ever used the fob to lock/unlock my car. I use the door handles..

I don't like the honking either. It's annoying.

Now there's a good idea.

Or, if you have a cel phone with a camera, take a photo of the number.

I've been scoping out the beep module from KP as well. My VW just does a little "meep" when I lock it so I don't have to think about it or turn and watch, I can hear it. The noise level is so low, if it scared anyone, they shouldn't be under my car! I'd like it if the MINI did the same thing (or at least similar).

I found this kind of odd myself, it lists locking with sound in the manual but its not an option in the actual car menu.

....because you must have the *Optional alarm system to have sound. Do you have the OEM alarm?

ahh, that makes sense. no i do not. not the biggest deal in the world. But i live in a very busy area so the opportunity to listen for the door locks is not always viable due to all the street/traffic noise.

I'll live.

^^This is why it's extra useful. If you have an auditory reminder then you don't have to worry about whether or not you actually locked your car.

Some people actually lock the doors via the key versus locking them with the FOB? Now that's strange.

Not with the key.

Those with Comfort Access have little black buttons on the outside door handles.

If you are outside the car with the Key/Fob in your pocket, a touch of the black button will lock/un-lock the car.

Believe you can hold it to close windows and sunroof, just like we mortals can with our silver key.

The following Email was forwarded to me and is a good thought;
if your OTHER CAR has a panic button.

What to take to bed with you - not a joke
Pretty neat idea. Never thought of it before.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night

Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check- out girl at the market,

everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car.

The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to

put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no

installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery

runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into

your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around.

After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough

the criminal won't want that.

And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there.

This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic.

Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. My Mom has

suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him.

He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

Please pass this on even IF you've read it before. It's a reminder.
