Do these look too ricey?

I'm making a few changes to my mini. ie. style of stripes, color of stripes, etc, etc.

I was going to powdercoat my wheels black but I came across these. I would normally run away but on laser blue, these might look cool.

Any thoughts of these wheels on laser blue.

Too rice or not?

Thanks,

Mark

If you have to ask...

They are kinda cool, but yea, borderline rice.

I wouldn't say ricey, maybe a bit gaudy but I'd have to see them on. Are the lips actually blue or is that a reflection, if so how close to LaB is it.

The lips are anodized blue but the color looks pretty spot on for laser blue.

Uhhh, no they are not ricey. Put them on your car if you like them. Be warned, anodized finishes are not as durable as powdercoated finishes and tend to wear faster.

B4 buying -=gRaY rAvEn=-, I had my eye on ( I think -05') Laser Blue with white roof and bonnet stripes. Had a pulley and a Borla too.

Big fan of laser Blue !

If unsure maybe someone can "photoshop" these rims onto a photograph of your MINI ?

I'd do it for ya but I have no program for it.

As far as it being "ricy".

I cannot give you a definitive definition of the word, but I know it when I see it.....and I don't see it here.

My roof is white. Having said that, I was going to change my wheels, mirrors, stripes and grille surround to black and leave the white roof. (I originally wanted to paint the roof black but too much trouble... don't want to pull the sunroof cassette)

I had found a set similiar to these a few months ago. Though I thought they were too much, I set them up against the car and they actually looked good.

Guess we'll see.

as mentioned before, anodizing tends to fade rather quickly, they'd probably be fun for a summer. I'm no fan of the dual bolt pattern wheels 'tho, they just look cheap.

As for the site you're looking at, 18racing, I had a good experience buying my Rota RB's from them, great deal & quick shipping.

To be honest, I had never given it a thought...hmmmm, something I'll need to look at.

I had bought a set of Rota RB's for a Miata from them and was very satisfied with their customer service.

From a Laser Blue owner, I've give 'em a try! I think it would be different. I've seen one other set that has an anodized look. More of a blue steel chrome look. I think it would work! And if not, you could always sell 'em.

Go with your gut feel. If you like, get 'em. You can always repaint them all-black later or maybe you could find somebody to 'chrome' them and then you'd go from rice to bling in one fell swoop

bleh. Anodized blue won't be an exact match, not to mention it will look bad when it begins to fade.

personally i think they look too "autozone tuner" if you catch my drift.
i saw someone around NAM that had painted their original crown spokes black with the lip matching LaB, it looked custom and factory at the same time.

sorry if i offend anybody but come on.... there are lines to draw, no?

Yeah, my wheels are dual bolt and they were cheap. But I get more compliments for my dual bolt, flat black wheels than some people with their shiny, fancy $350 a wheel....wheels. But that's just me.

Nah.. Typical ricers won't spend that much on rims.... 12k Yow. The anodized dipstick and led washers gives em more horsepower per buck factor!!! Dont forget the high performance blinker fluid!!!!

But back to thread. It looks good, but I'm not sure how they will look in the long run. Some anodizing tends to fade after some time. Some people are looking for the burnt titanium look. Sort of a burned rainbow like shine. I've seen those on rims and they look cool. Not my cup o tea though.
