Anyone familiar with limo tint? What is the typical UV light reflection % and the visible light transmission %?

Would limo tint provide better UV and visible light transmission than Huper Optik 30?

"limo tint" is just shorthand for the darkest of tints (typically 5% or less)... regardless of who makes it.

And tinted windows don't offer any better UV protection than untinted windows. Limo tint (5%) would obviously have superior visable light reduction than Huper 30, however Huper whould have superior thremal protection, meaning it reduces heat better.

The Huper *may* have superior thermal protection... one could find a "limo tint" darkness ceramic that also has great thermal rejection.

My point is that "limo tint" by itself doesn't mean anything more than, "wow, that's so dark you can't see inside... it's like a limo!"

Yes, zipgear seen that vendor at AMVIV, and thought now there is a vendor for all those R53 and apearantly R56 owners who post about "getting the scalps fried because of sunroof"
If I had to have a sunroof I would just put white or black (depending on roof color) vinyl tape over it to effectivly block out sun. I know R53 owners still did not like sunroof even with tint and oem sunroof see through logo/shade.

Guess you could always go with 2 layers of limo tint on the sunroof and that should nearly block out just about everything; UV and all.

Absolutely, its ceramic tint specifically (any not just huper) that has the superior thermal protection no matter what the %, although I still think the darker the better. I think huper has a chart on their website.

iirc, metallic tint offers little to know thermal protection in comparison.

No you would not want to double up on tint, two layers would be foggy and would peel. Better off looking for a ceramic Limo tint, the only other ceramic tint I know of is Formula one Pinnicle which is not nearly as well made as huper, also not sure how their thermal protection corosponds, but they might make a 5% ceramic.

The 5% Pinnacle is what I have on my sunroof. Been quite happy with it, but it's only been a month or so.

The true test will be in the next few months... if this Irish/German/Norwegian skin (why you gotta be hatin', sun?!) can last a southern Arizona summer, I'll be pleased.

Here are some photos of our ZippeeShade. As you can see the fit of our product is pretty good. They are held in place by suction cups attaching them directly to the glass on your sunroof. This way they stay securely in place without having to remove them while driving with your sunroof open.

For about $11 I bought suction cup screens at Kragen. Two screens are required to cover the sun roof's area. The fabric is not opaque. It's a fine thread woven coarsely so that some light is transmitted. I didn't want 100% light blockage. The suction cups didn't hold up to the exposure to sun and heat, so I replaced them with 2 inch wide Velcro. Even with the suction cups, the screens were close to the glass and I use the factory shade and these screens. It all works very well (especially for the price) and the Velcro has been tested at freeway speeds.

I have the zippeeshade and yes a little light comes in around the edge they do cover most of the sunroof. I only use it when I park the car for a long period of time. When driving the light from the sunroof totaly opens the car up I would not want to totaly block it off. The factory shade it great in that you can still have the open feeling with some of the heat blocked. It would be nice for parking it they had another slide over that would totaly block the light.

Does anyone have another option or suggestions for the sunroof problem? My sunroof visor keeps breaking. It will only slide half way. I have gone to the dealer three times to fix it and it keeps breaking down. Any suggestions out there? I thought of tinting it but i just don't like that. I like the light to come in most of the time.

I'm in Houston (upper 90's in summer) so I'm going with the complete white-out of both sunroofs. I don't want ANY light coming thru...will post pics if aestheticreations ever sends me the stuff (darn MOTD).

I'm in Tucson (gets to 110-115 in summer), and the 5% transmission ceramic "limo tint" on my sunroof is perfect.

I too have the sunroof tinted with 5%, and have the Zippee Shade. Both work well.

so I imagine that with only the 5% tint the radiant heat coming in still sucks...is that why you have the zippee thing as well?

that's why I decided to go with the complete whiteout.
(OFFTOPIC:I have WHITE tyvek car cover that is just amazing in reducing the heat in the sun)

Yes, I tinted first and that helped. Took longer for car to heat up in sun. Added the zippeeshade, helps keep car cooler when parked and while driving.

BTW, where did you purchase the tyvek car cover?

http://www.stacksandstacks.com/premi...yvek-car-cover

take 10% off with code thx10

my cover was $47 shipped...I got a size 2 [had size 1 but its really tight/small]

I just walked outside and checked my car cover versus a regular tan multilayer cover next to my car -- and mine is not even warm to the touch...the other one is hot!!!
