11/08 delivery, no problems in 7k miles. Includes a 1.5k nonstop (OK, adding fuel and eliminating bodily fluids only) cross country trip. I love this car, as much as anyone can love a 4 wheel object. Not as much as my Ducati, but close!

I do not think that this forum is discouraging prospective MINI clients, as matter of fact I think this discussion group fuels individuals desires to take the plunge. Sales are down right now because of the economy. That is the cold hard fact. It will change soon, hang in there!!

I'm glad I'm not the only stats nerd in the building!

Very true, but I've known some individuals to turn away from MINI because they read all these threads about problems. I just thought it'd be nice to be a little more "objective," and post the flip side.

I've had my mini for 3 months now and ~3,000 miles. Count me as one of the "extremely satisfied".

I have had mine for 14 months and 8500 miles. A couple of very minor issues, otherwise, very satisfied as well.

I've had my 06 for 3 years, the only problem was a loose tie-rod end. Crossing my fingers that my incoming 09 is as problem-free.

OK, had mine for 13 months and 26k miles. Only "problem" has been a squeaky clutch pedal which was fixed with a little lubricant while I had it in for its regular service.

Our clubman has the same excessive mileage problem with 10k in less than 6 months that your MINI seems to have with 26k in 13 monhts. I hope the addtion of my hardtop will lessten the need to drive the our clubman quite so much my other car (an Acura TSX) just say there only making the weekly drive to the airport of 70 miles and nothing else.

I've had my '07 Cooper 17 months(week 32 build) which has just over 72k with not so much as a stuck sunroof in warm weather. That's with a big drop, modified exhaust, intake and remap.

Nope,no problems here!

I'm not a huge Oxy Blue fan... But MAN, I love looking at that car!

Just want to say thanks for this thread. I'm waiting it out for some info on the 2010s before pulling the trigger on an order (not to mention hopes of "rattle" issues sorting out). But it sure is a nice change of pace to be reading this thread instead of all the bad news.

Funny...when I was in the AF stationed outside of Oxford UK (87-92), one of (three) mini's I owned was a 1275GT. Now you talk about a rattling engine, and all the time! But it never broke down and it ran like a raped ape.

I'm glad you haven't had any problems. Except for an occasional cold start chatter and the occasional vibrating door panel, life's been good for me too.

The thing is, almost all us 2nd gen Mini owners are in the sweet spot of ownership. We've owned our cars a relatively short time and have put on relatively few miles. There hasn't been a lot of time for problems to develop. Plus all our little problems are covered under warranty or maintenance.

The real test of the Mini's workmanship and dealer customer service will occur after the warranty expires. Although there are non-mechanical reasons for warranty duration (marketing, for example), at the end of the day the warranty period is the window of time that the car manufacturers know statistically their cars will be relatively problem free. If I made a very reliable car it would make sense to warranty it for a long time since it would hardly ever be in for repairs. I'm hoping our Minis v2 do well after the honeymoon is over because they are expensive to fix.

Apart from drivers window not dipping which was fixed under warranty then i can honestly say i'm very satisfied with my cooper NOV 08 build.

None to speak of. Odd intermittent idle problem, apparently fixed by running a couple bottles of BMW fuel system cleaner. One odd creak on letting the clutch out that has not repeated. Otherwise, totally trouble free.

I own a pair of '07 MCS - his and hers. Mechanically identical, different colors. Hers has been flawless up to the 25,000 mile mark. My early production MCS has received both the short and full tensioner repair, and a flat tire, with 32,000 miles on the odometer. No other issues.
