Clutch stop?

Does anyone else but me think that the Mini could use a clutch stop? The travel on my JCW is a little long and you don't have to press the clutch to floor to start it. I made a make-shift stop that's only about 1/2" deep attatched to the pedal that shortens the travels by a noticeable amount. Has anyone else tried this? Thoughts?

I do agree with you about the travel being a little long - and shortening it would be nice - but I'd be afraid of the effect on the transmission of not having the clutch fully depressed when changing gears. Maybe the techs on here can share some insight on that.

Many people did this on their BMW Z3s and Z4s, but there was an issue that when the car gets hot the clutch will change and the stop would not allow the peddle to go down far enough to make a clean shift and it would also not go down far enough to allow the engine to star. Lots of people like clutch stops, just be aware of these issues.

My last car (M5) had a built in clutch stop on the floor although many owners, myself included, modified them for even less travel. I never had, or heard of any issues from it on an M5. Sounds like this didn't work well for the Z3/Z4 owners though. I'm going to give it a try for a while on the Mini. It's even more fun to drive with the reduced travel. I'd like to hear if any other Mini owners have done this.

i did the same on my E46 M3, you can extended and upgrade the plastic clutch stop that BMW uses for longer metal piece, but by making ot too long , i also encountered the problem where i couldnt start my car, therefore specific measurement was recommended

Is it really that hard just to push the clutch all the way in? Really, srsly? On a Mini? I swear, from the way some people talk around here, you would think these cars drove like Semis.

For me it's easier to modulate the clutch when the throw is shorter. It also makes shifting just that much more enjoyable. I wasn't unhappy with it before, but I can never leave anything alone

I tried a few things to reduce the long travel but nothing great yet. There is an UUC travel stop but do not know whether it works. Was wondering if anyone tried it yet?

With Heel to toe shifting, I find the travel a little too long.
