5,000km (3,100 miles) 1 MINI in 4 days, bonding or crazy?

Hi.

For my birthday next year I'm intending to go to Florida. Its two days there and two back, with a 5ft2 gf whose sunshine incarnated, but might be a little luggage happy.

Honestly I love driving the car (even though I'm tenuously thinking about bringing the rag top instead) but do you think I might be smarter to spend an extra 200 bucks on a unlimited mileage rental (hyundai or chev aveo). I figure I'd make that rental cost back when I sell the car, you know if im not buried in it.

My head says I'd like to save the wear and tear on the mini, but my heart says driving through the smokey mountains in the mini, waiting for that slow transition from snow to sunshine would be alot more memorable.

Thanks

Ah, go for it - I take my MINI cabrio on 3000-4000 mile road trips a couple of times a year and enjoy the heck out of it. The last thing on my mind is the miles I'm adding to the car.

EDIT - And my wife is even bigger into road trips than I am. She takes her convertible MINI on a long trip every summer. This past summer, it was from Virginia -> Dallas -> Monterey, CA -> Washington state -> Colorado -> Dallas -> Pensacola, FL -> Virginia. I think it was about 9,000 miles in all, including the local driving and little side-trips she did while at each of her stops.

If yr MINI was an off warranty beater with over 100K Id rent--if U do get a Hyundai Genesis. You wont be disappointed.

otherwise I say MINI motoring road trip F the miles.

Awesome idea but when you get to Florida stop in Jacksonville so I can meet you and the gf. But seriously speaking awesome idea but tell her she can only pack cloths for like 4 days and tell her you plan on staying at some really cool place like the beach or some other crazy things like that.

A few years back, pre-MINI, we drove Texas-Colorado-Vegas-NoCal-Socal-Texas (5,000+ miles) in the Big Tree SUV. I'd gladly sacrifice the leg room and extra luggage to do it again in our MINI. We did Texas to Colorado and back this past summer. We were planning to do Texas to Boston (and back) this spring break, but it didn't work out.

Go for it!

I may have to take a trip to AZ on VERY short notice, if I have the time, I'm definitely taking my MINI. It's a 1365mi. trip one-way. Molly's got just over 11,600miles on her, she just turned a year old (Production Date) 2 days ago. If it weren't for the possiblity of having to fly due to not enough time to drive I'd probably be packed right now.

You have to take your MINI...I would love to see and drive through the Smokey Mountains...I just live to far away!! Next year we are definitely doing a Yellowstone Trip, so I have that to look forward too.
