R56 How fast are we with our stock MC?
Not sure why anyone would base the performance of a mini on what cars it will beat in the 0-60 straight. Get a Pontiac G8 if you want good 0-60 performance. I ordered my mini due to a combination of relatively good pickup, great turning ability, good mileage and fun looks. To worry about what cars I can beat in the straights would be counter productive to why the mini exists.
Just like gunfighters in the old west, someone is always faster.

Pat
mine is an MC 07 US spec, and nothing has been done to it. I got it over 120 no prob. maybe its cause it was delivered to an overseas dealer(military dealership in germany)?
You can't always trust the manufacturer's published 0-60 times (most car companies do have marketing departments, folks)... so trying to compare one against another is difficult unless you get a good driver and a nice stretch of road on a calm day and measure them.
Of the 3 cars looked at here on Fifth Gear, the MINI comes the closest to the manufacturer's published 0-60 time.

I have 87-100 octane here in my area.
Yah mine is auto and i notice a good difference while driving .... i just got back from a fun spin

and its louder to

and its louder to The sport mode simply adjusts the throttle response and makes it so that when your only pressing the pedal a 1/4, your really pressing a tad more then that, it also makes the shifting very quick in the automatic's (I know it does in the S, not sure about auto coopers) as well it tightens the steering response... Thats it, it does not make you that much quicker, it does not add any more power or anything like that. I drive around with sport on most of the time though as I have an auto trans and it's very quick shifting in sport, so it might be a tad faster in sport with auto, but probably not enough to notice...
Esonwood, here in the US, we use the Research Octane Number rating added to the Motor Octane Number and then divided by 2 or (R+M)/2. I'm pretty sure you also use this method across the pond. Here in far West Texas, 91 is the highest available. I just got a full tank yesterday at $2.099 per gallon. It was $1.699 a few weeks ago. The regular high octane rating of fuels here is 93 but some specialty stations will have higher. Also, higher altitudes don't require high octane.

"This higher rating seen in Europe is an artifact of a different underlying measuring procedure. In most countries (including all of Europe and Australia) the "headline" octane that would be shown on the pump is the RON, but in the United States, Canada and some other countries the headline number is the average of the RON and the MON, sometimes called the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), Road Octane Number (RdON), Pump Octane Number (PON), or (R+M)/2. Because of the 8 to 10 point difference noted above, this means that the octane in the United States will be about 4 to 5 points lower than the same fuel elsewhere: 87 octane fuel, the "regular" gasoline in the US and Canada, would be 91-92 in Europe. However most European pumps deliver 95 (RON) as "regular", equivalent to 90–91 US (R+M)/2, and deliver 98 (RON), 99 or 100 (RON) labeled as Super Unleaded."

Again why would anyone want a slow, heavy, poorly built GM product when you can go 0-60 in 4.7 for the same price in a 135i

As was stated previously "Some folks still like to buy American" and today there are lots of choices in the Amercian car market. Given all that I still like and will drive the MINI but I also drive and buy American. It's nice to have the choice and do both.
I had my 03 MC up to about 120 (if memory serves me right), but the governor kicked in. I think it was at about 6 grand or so on the tach, so around 125-130ish would be the right top speed.
To answer the original question: "7.7 seconds to 60 mph and 16.3 at 85 mph in the quarter-mile..", much quicker than the stated 9 sec to 60.

Not that much slower than the 2002 MCS!

Thanks for the info but just wondering why are different speeds being posted?

It's obvious to me that you have not driven a GM vehice lately. Maybe you should. Slow and heavy are you kidding? Go drive the Pontiac G8, go drive the CTS with the over 500 hp motor. True luxury with Brembo brakes, Recario seats and all the trimmings. Talk about class. And that is just the beggining.
