This also happens if you roll your windows down in the rain. It seems to pour down in one spot on both sides.
Until Vent Shades are made for the MINI this is just something we will have to learn to live with.
That will be interesting if it happens! They were all the rage for Pick Ups for long time here.

Well not as much as my mini does. I mean its like a waterfall. Some times you have to open up a window in the rain. I know I am not the only person that has opened a window in the rain intentionally. Don't some of you visit drive through windows at fast food stops, atm's?

Yes, it comes inside like buckets. I opened my window in a storm the one day to shout directions to my buddy and my legs got drenched. Yeah, rain will come in in any car, but nothing like this. I've never seen anything like it on a car before. Those channels on the top are a design joke IMO. It doesn't kill my love for the car, but I'm also not blinded enough to not see the obvious problems.

Yeah I love my mini and would not trade it for anything. THanks for backing me up on that one I was really looking for some of those window flairs they use to put on SUVs and cars years ago. But i am sure they dont make it for Minis since the top of the door is nothing but glass. Bottom line is when that window or door is open during rain, you better have your slickers and duckies on

IMO, it's not the worst thing..

Let me explain.. When it is raining, you know you'll get wet somehow..

The worst thing for me is when it's a beautiful SUNNY day outside, you drive with the windows down.. and then a bug decide to commit suicide on your windshield.. So you're like, ok, no big deal, let's put some winshield washer on that... BANG everything gets IN the car... Even if you decide to close the windows just for that, you'll simply ruin your car wash because there will be windshield washer all over the side windows..

I'm in LOVE with that car.. but seriously.. is it THAT complicated to put something to deflect the water ????

I zaino'd my MINI and let me tell you, the beads of water that form after a rain are HUGE! I've never seen beads of water so big.

I slide as gently as possible then shut the door really quickly (as the others have posted). I don't know why they bothered with the gutters. They don't do anything, not even a little.

How many of you will be using duct tape along the gutter to form a wall over the door -- creating a rain gutter that actually works? The Duct Tape Council wants to know.

Perhaps there should be a button on the key fob that you press as you approach the car. It causes the car to shake like a dog that just came in out of the rain. Then it unlocks the doors.

Well how many people have the sunroof that commented on the water running in? The sunroof actually does channel a lot of water that would be coming down to the gutter through its drain tubes. Haven't had a lot of experience with mine in the rain since it doesn't see the outside of the garage much when it rains I take the truck.

I got the sunroof and I got a wet @ss too when I get inside in the rain

It could be worse...my Integra roof drain used to be clogged and when it would rain the water would run onto the drivers side seat...now I had cloth seats (leather ones were stolen b/c they fit into civics but thats for another thread)...so the cloth seats would be wet and unnoticeable - so you wouldn't know until you sat down that it was wet! not a great feeling...

No sunroof, not much puddling in the seat either from the technique I mentioned earlier.

But Robin's got a very cool idea....the dog shake would be totally baller...can you see coming toward the car in the rainy parking lot and the damn thing starts shaking, maybe even a bark or two? Too funny.

X2. also helps to blow on the roof so that the big drops run off. then you get in before they build up again.

Wow, I just experienced this for the first time in my new 09. Went to the drive-thru in the rain, opened the window to pay and got drenched by the deluge from the roof. This never happened in my 06...quite an annoying design flaw.

Try getting into you car while its raining. As soon as you open the door every drop of rain from the top of the car will now be on your leg or your left side.
