I would have liked a sunroof, but hate the perforated shade and constant light whether or not I want it, so I didn't order one and I'm glad I didn't. I like the conventional type sunroof, like my wife's accord, which is not dual and has a complete insulated block out panel.

If mini ever does do a conventional type sunroof, I'll get one, but until then I like not having the one in the mini.

Hi Dunce11R! Good luck with your final configurations! I swear, that was the absolute most difficult stage,,, I pored over all of those options and I too agonized over the dual pane sunroof. Then I read the cons on here,,, and after thinking about it and remembering how I rarely open my existing sunroof due to not liking a bright sun glaring down into my eyes I left it off of my order. It is a real bummer that mini doesn't offer a solid sun shade.

Sloopy is almost home, and must confess that I still worry, if I think about it too hard. I am afraid my car will be too closed in,, which is silly since I test drove 2 mini's without sun roofs and thought it was fine w/out one.

Bottom line, I think if it wasn't this I would worry about something else,,,and figure that I will settle down and love my sunroof-less mini when I get it.
If you havne't ordered yet in a couple weeeks I will post my thoughts after picking Sloopy up!!

I love my sunroof. I use it almost daily. One cool thing I like about having that little shade cover it is that it allows me to keep the sun roof open even with a light drizzle of rain. Also its not just mini a lot of companies are no longer fully covering the sun roofs. My wife is in the market for a new vehicle and found that now Audi is doing the same thing. I plan on limo tinting mine or maybe getting a graphic put on my roof.

I like my sunroof and am glad I got it (even with the "won't open when warm" issue). However, I wouldn't base my decision on what you read here; as some have stated, this is where you read about the problems (usually) and based on what gets posted its a wonder that ANYONE buys a MINI at all, with or without a sunroof.

I never had a problem with my hardtop - No sun in my eyes, doesn't squeek or stick, doesn't need tinting, and I'm pretty sure I paid less for it than the sun roof.

I love my sunroof and can't imagine motoring in good weather without the wind in my hair.

I had originally wanted a cabrio, but didn't want to wait for the '09s, so I opted for the sunroof. Mine does stick when temps get above 90 degrees and I forget to park it in the shade, but the rest of the time, it's fine.

It cracks me up too how people act as if the minor inconvenience of a sticking sunroof is reason enough to not get one. Granted, it shouldn't happen, but it really isn't that much of an issue in the grand scheme of things, and sure wouldn't make me not want one. And I imagine someday there will be a real fix for it.

Love my sunroof!

I've only had my Clubman for a little over a month but so far my checkered sunroof (along with my car in general!) makes me smile everyday!! You should have seen the grins on my grandkids faces when I opened it up to let the snowflakes fall in on them!!
Happy Holidays everyone!

Sunroof are a "love 'em or hate 'em" option. I would not be without sone asnd have it open at every opportunity. My best friend has two cars with sunroofs and he said he never opened either one.

I like the open feeling of the cat with a sunroof and in most kinds of weather you can open it and enjoy the sky and weather.

I put a perforated graphic on my sunroof and the light is perfect.

In this area we have extremes--90s in the summer and below zero occassionally in the winter. The sunroof does not lower the comfort level in the car at any time.
