Does anyone at all have a CD Changer that is on A 2009 that is under the dash? I can't really vision just where it goes. Do you lose the secrete compartment or what? I see My Dealer has them on sale for $725.00 and I'm really thinking of getting it installed. I just can't figure out where it will go in the front of this car when installed under the dash.

Ditch the CD changer for an iPod and ipod integrated adapter and have cash left over to spend elsewhere! CDs are going the way of the 8 track tape. CD players are cheap now and a dealership trying to pass a changer off @ $725.00 as a "sale" is laughable. Skip the CD Changer and your "secret" compartment free for other things. Just my opinion of course....

I've got to agree with Mako.....$725.00 for a CD Changer seems "excessive" and the ipod solution makes perfect sense. You can buy lots of content for ipod w $725.00 and its not only in the Mini. Heck...buy two ipods.

iPod sound is only as good as a CD if you load songs using a lossless compression format. The popular mp3 format is heavily compressed, and does not have the same sound quality as a CD. If you record to an iPod using lossless compression the songs will take up a lot more room, the trade-off is better fidelity. I do agree that an ipod makes a lot more sense than a CD changer, especially at over $700 for the changer!

Ditch the CD changer. You can select a high sample rate for mp3s if you have a sensitive ear. You get really large files, but a bunch of them fit on one CD.
I could cross the country on 3 Cd's of mp3s.

This. Especially with mp3 CDs, there is absolutely no need for a changer (unless you want 6 mp3 CDs at will, in which case you might as well get the iPod integration, which is cheaper and makes more sense)
If you enjoy the sound from your iPod, that's all that matters. It's certainly a lot more convenient than lugging around a few hundred CDs in your trunk! Personally I use an XM radio, which is also a highly compressed format, but the range of music provided is so varied and well programmed it's all I usually listen to in my MINI.

i have used both "xm" and "sirious", and i like both. but, when you are traveling through hilly or heavily wooded areas, both systems lose signals. its always good to have an "ipod" to cure the problem.
