I have the factory bluetooth in both my 2005 BMW and my 2007 MCS, they both work awesome but my friends can always tell when I'm in the MCS. They say that it sounds better than when I'm using the BMW's bluetooth. I can only assume that they improved their bluetooth in the newer years. On my end I can't tell a difference, they are both clear with never any feedback. I use a Motorola Razor and a Motorola Sliver.

You get the address book without the MFSW, but you do need the wheel for voice activation.

thanks for all the help guys. question to clarify - does the mfsw allow you to change tracks on the ipod as well from the wheel? what about playing music from a usb port via usb memory?

yeah, the steering wheel lets you change the track from the ipod too. i'm not sure about the usb port thing. basically how it works for an ipod, is you plug it in and then you can control the ipod from the buttons that normally work for the radio or cd player. all of your songs are listed on the screen and divided by author/album/track name.

The bluetooth works great with my Motorola SLVR! The phonebook uploaded just find and voice commands work pretty well, but you must pro-nun-C-ate clearly. I did find an error in the manual for storing voice names. It states to say "store name" to initiate the name storing procedure, but that did not work. You must say "save name", and all is good. Also, short words don't work quite as well as longer, multi-sylible phrases, like "dial number" vs just saying "yes". I found that saving voice command names under names like "Daniels cell" is better than storing it as just "Daniel". It take a bit of playing around with, but works nicely.

I have the old iPhone and everyone says that my end sounds really bad. It has to be wind noise cause when I slow down for traffic or a light, they say they can hear me much better, like a wind noise issue.

I took the car in to service for the wind noise from the sunroof issue, but that did not solve the BT issue.

I think I might try moving the mic from left to right side to see if that isolates the noise issue. If not I might also try some sound damping material to reduce opportunity from the area inside the mic space.

My voice quality is good. However, when I get on the freeway it becomes hard to hear. Is there a way to increase or lower the volume on the bluetooth? Is it done with the controllers in the car or you have to do it on your phone? I have the Iphone 3GS if that makes any difference...

Hopefully this will help a lot of you

Call this number using your bluetooth (415) 408-5288. Its a free service called Sound Check by Plantronics. What you do is talk into it (say whatever you want) it will record it and play it back to you. So you know how you sound to the person on the other end.

Adjust the volume of the audio system while the other person is talking. If you have the MFSW, just use the volume control on that while they are talking. NAV works the same way. You can only change the volume of NAV instructions while they are playing.

Thanks. That could be useful. While it is a free service, it wouldn't be toll-free. So, probably a long-distance call for most people not in San Francisco.

Yeah thanks for pointing that out. However most cell phones have nationwide coverage so hopefully its not an issue
