R56 Bike Rack Attachement for R56 Roof Rack
Bike Rack Attachement for R56 Roof Rack
When I was researching the bike rack attachement for the roof rack, there weren't many pictures. So, I bought it hoping that it world work well and be pretty good.
Well, the attachment installs/removes in about 3 mins. It is a great piece except for the tie-downs for the wheels. It's not a big deal. They work, it just takes a little extra ummfff...to pull them nice and tight.
I've driven about 250 miles in one trip while averaging 73-75mph without any issues.

I got the dealer-installed fork-mount bike carrier on the standard rack system. The hatch would not clear (on my '07 Cooper S) and the spoiler would hit the rear end of the rack. Options to fix were to turn it around so the bike was backwards or chop the carrier's aluminum extrusion so it was ~3" shorter. I opted for shortening it and without the bike it clears just fine. Just a hacksaw required. With a bike on, it'll bump the tire a little but that's ok with me. I'm posting this in case others run into the same issue.
