AC is not cold enough for me, my wrangler soft top was actually colder in the same conditions.

I live in Central Texas, and I find the AC pretty good. The leatherette does have its breathing issues, but surprisingly, it hasn't really bothered me (aside from initial sit down)

I usually have it set to 70 or 72 Auto.

I am in HOT Florida and find the air to be GREAT.. much better than my 2007 Toyota 4Runner and 1000's times better than my previous 2001 Madza Tribute.

I live in, Phoenix, AZ, where it gets pretty danged hot in the summer... While it was not as cold as my Nissan pick up truck's A/C, I really have no complaints after using it this summer.

It seems funny that, generally, those of us in hot areas like the South or Southwest think the AC is just fine, but those in more temperate a locations like the Northeast seem to have an issue.

I live IN Tucson,az area and the A/C is just ok.It keeps it lightly cool, not cold. This small car should get cold. It blows 60* out of the vents, which is ok,but the car just doesnt get cold

For me, it' gets cold enough, but I have the Auto AC and I don't believe the temp is accurate. I had a Maxima with Auto AC and I'd set it and forget it at 74. On the MINI, at 72 it's not cold enough, and I have to either put it on MAX to relly get the car cooled to where I like it, or i have to lower the temp...niether of which I had to do on the Maxima!

So i's not very "auto" to me.

I find it funny too that most people in the hotter regions find the A/C good. I didn't complain about it too much last year, but this year was more humid. I have the auto A/C and I run it on 64/66 and I have noticed that the fan doesn't stay on high too long. I find the car still hot and the fan is on a lower setting. I've been running it on the auto setting. I'll have to try the max button. It doesn't help that I have a sunroof and black roof and black interior. My other vehicle is a 05 Xterra and has dark interior and when I run the A/C its like a meat locker within minutes.

gee.. another thing I find that up north you set the air for 64/66 degrees - that is freaking C-O-L-D!!!! I set it for 76 and often move it up to 78 degrees. I'd have to wear a jacket if it was set at 72 or less. Maybe it's because you all aren't acclimated to heat.. and your summers are short and you don't have the time to adjust?

My A/C is always set on Low 64/62 and is on the recirculation, its always colder that way...I have no probs with it..My issue is that it just seems sooooo loud...I need to turn it down when having a conversation on the phone or with a passenger...

I don't like that the vents are blocked by the wheel and can't blow right into my face. But I do think the system keeps the ambient temperature low enough for me. I do plan on getting my windows tinted very soon, though, and hopefully that will help even more.

The A/C is whimpy, takes too long to bring down this Carolina heat.

I bet you would find too that most of the people complaining will probably be in a large city. It gets really hot here but I stay moving and not stopped in traffic. On the smaller engines sitting idling in traffic the A/C always takes a hit since the engine can't run it all with the lower RPM's.

I live in S Florida, my ac is always cold, too cold sometimes. I keep mine at 76-78F. I have punch leather seats and a white roof. I think that that makes quite a bit of difference.

AC stinks, but then again, most German cars' AC sucks. One thing American made cars do well in is the AC. like said above, recirculating helps a lot.

Followup to my last post:

Since the weather is getting a little cooler (89 degrees instead of 95 degrees per the tach digital thermometer) down here in South Florida today I decided to remove the front aftermarket sunshade and slide the factory sunshade back over the sunroof.Like always the A/C fan speed set on medium with the recirc button on and start driving but the sun was shining down on the sunroof and beads of sweat were starting to appear on my forehead.I put the fan speed on high but no change as I could only endure that for 15 minutes until I pulled over and reinstalled the front sunshade and my MCSa cooled in a matter of seconds.

At night not a problem naturally since the sun isn't out and it is cooler but during the daytime the aftermarket sunshade is a must for me.

Heh. I agree about the leatherette back sweat, but I've had no real problem with the AC in my long, long ten days of MCS ownership.

Okay, this is only my second or third post. I am in the process of agonizing over every option and wondered if any of you have the manual AC?
Versus Auto? Do you have a recirculate option with manual AC?

Thanks!!

I have the manual A/C but both the auto and the manual A/C's have the recirculation button.

If I had to do it all over again I would get the auto A/C where you set the temperature you want instead of guessing with the manual.

To me, here in NYC, I don't think it cools quick enough. It really takes a while to get going compared to my other cars. But once it's cold, it maintains it pretty well. Again, just slow to get cold.

I've got an '08 Clubman S, climate control, black roof, sunroofs. I have no complaints whatsoever with the air. Here in MD, the summers are hot and humid. The A/C does a great job initially cooling the car and keeping it cool. I, for one, am very impressed. The MINI cools off a lot faster than my Dodge Durango did.

RECIRCULATE button is the key to MINI's. I promise you this. With every mini we have had we keep it on. Its double the cold and power. Another thing that helps is to have some tint on the windows!
