Yeah, he should be doing at least a little bit of time. Damn vandals!

If both occupants in the vehicle came towards you, threatening you physically, would this allow you to use deadly force? I don't know how it is for non-LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers), but as a Federal LEO, we're authorized to use deadly force if you are outnumbered and threatened with physical harm. Maybe it depends on the State.

Good job on the phone call to 911.... you saved yourself a ton of hassle, and even if you did tell him to, "Move foward, *****-----," he had no right to bash in your vehicle and threaten bodily harm. Hope he gets maximum punishment, the jerk.

Here's a pic. The glass in the center of the impact has since fallen out. :(

I'm still furious about all of this. Sucks commuting 120 miles/fueling the 4Runner.

After seing that pic I am now very angry too! What kind of jerk could do that to a poor lil defensles MINI, no matter how the driver acted towards them? If he could do that to a MINI, just think what his new wife is going to be putting up with.

I feel for ya man hope your MINI gets fixed up soon! I had a similar incident here in NC with my two kid sisters(8 & 9) in the back where a guy on meth upset I "took his gas pump" dented the boot hatch with his fist and reached in the passenger window. After being shot at over a tailgating incident two years ago I keep a Taser X26 in my drivers door and a Sig P226 in my secret compartment.Luckily for him I utilized the Taser until the sheriff arrived as opposed to my other option.Had this happened in CA with the "helpless citizen" gun laws the outcome would have been much different.

No, some people just fail to behave in a civil manner. I mean, I know we're all just animals, but we should know better. Whether it's poor upbringing, low self-esteem, a quick temper, or a deep-rooted sociological disorder, humans are capable of some pretty horrible behavior at times. My faith in humanity has taken a number of hits over the years.

I hope your MINI gets mended soon. Has this incident changed the way you will handle inconsiderate people in the future?

Yeah, this thread really bothers me. I mean, to quote an old adage, "what is the world coming to?" It seems the older I get, the more I just want to retire in a remote area of the country and not have to put up with stuff like this.

As naieve as it sounds, I have always said "why can't we all just get along?"

Or why can't we just agree to disagree and move on? Not everybody is going to see eye to eye, and I don't think we could reasonably expect that. But c'mon! There's no need for extreme reactions like this.

Horrible stuff like this stems from too many people demanding that the whole world revolve around them, that they're more important than anyone else. They lose control so easily and go berserk and feel totally justified. Just selfish. And they just don't get it.

My regrets and sympathies you had the misfortune to be behind barbarians. Hope your insurance covers you fully on this wanton act of vandalism.

Going to Jack in the Box on their wedding night? You should have just yelled "I have [insert country singer here] tickets! You want sum?"

As they start drooling, gun it!

Well, as far as the law is concerned concerning your broken windshield, if it is under $300 in Illinois at least it is a misdemeanor. Anything over $300 is a felony. I would have followed it as far as the law would take it. These idiots who go after a random car are stupid!!!! how do they know there is not a whacko with a shotgun waiting for them??? oh, I forgot.... then they are the victim then if they get hurt.

I wonder what the law is here.... The replacement is well over $600. The officer stated it would be a misdemeanor. 2-3 weeks jail time ONLY if they have any priors. Otherwise, a fine and judgement to pay me.

I wouldn't recommend even carrying a knife in CA. We basically don't have the right to defend ourselves in this state. I have my concealed carry permit for over 30 states, but I cannot carry to defend myself in my home state of CA from morons such as this. Frankly, wasting that yahoo on his wedding night would have been doing the world a favor, since it would prevent him and his idiot wife from reproducing (if they hadn't already). I think we need more vigilante justice in this world.

You know why they were at Jack's at 11:30? Food/doughnuts ran out at the reception and the guests had a craving for supertacos. The groom had to go because he wanted a Jumbojack and wanted to eat it in the car before the bubbas at the hoedown scarfed it from him. And the bride had to go with him so no bubbas would scarf on her while he was a Jack's. (The parents drove because they had a car). Next stop was the minimart for some Old Style, but they didn't get that far. I think it was nice of them to take care of their guests on their wedding night.
Seriously, I think a misdemeanor is light for angrily smashing a windshield of a stranger essentially unprovoked. They should be made to pay for the glass and a fine to the court (and you should take them to court, make sure he has a record for this).

NO, just cited! Nonetheless, I'm sure it ruined his wedding night.

MINI horn is very loud. And at night in the drive thru lane where one side is blocked by the building and the menu board and the other side by bushes and possibly the upper side by a roof it can sound extremely loud. If he was getting a oral XXX when you honked, the startled bride could have bitten it off, you know. Just exploring all the possibilities...

I have this board game that is absolutely freakin hilarious that deals with such a thing.
It's called: "Redneck Life" and it's a complete riot. heres the website.
http://www.gutbustingames.com/
what you described happens in the game. you start out with no money and immediately take on debt to pay for things you need. you have little or no chance to pay it back throughout. the winner is who has the most teeth in the end.

Now, to the topic of inconsiderations. I believe if anyone is found guilty of deliberate violent jack-a** behavior, they should get a free punch in the teeth by the offended party. I'm an airline pilot for a living. I must say that the general populace is tired of regulation and i understand that. but my message to those who don't care? "C'mon your adults so quit peeing on the toilet seats in every public restroom and airline lav you see....and please for once wash your hands befor you leave". from what i've seen i can also guarantee that most of your fast food was prepared by people who never wash their hands after a pee break. Yousee, noone gives a s**t anymore. we went from traveling in hats and jackets to tube tops and flip flops. that explains the attitudes of people nowadays. perceived entitlement just for showing up.
(oh, and stay away form Phillidelphia's airport anytime after 10am on less than perfect days.)

This is just another reason I left California for Colorado. Jerks who feel they can do what they want without consequence. If they do get caught it's a slap on the wrist. Noone cares, including the cops. I see some of that here but not nearly as much. Of course there is a concealed carry law here and victim's rights have not been legislated away.
