How to turn off ambient lighting?

Does anyone know how to turn the ambient lighting off? It bothers my girlfriend but I love it. (I'm an orange/blue)

Tell her to get out and walk if she doesn't like it. I tell my wife that all the time. She has yet to take me up on my offer

Yeah, she needs to chill....that, and you can't turn it off. Blue is the least intense, maybe she can live with that. I guess MINI didn't provide an "off" switch because....well, who in their right mind would want to turn it off???

Maybe you could develop a really irksome habit that she could focus on instead of the lighting....assuming you don't already have lots of these. I know I do!

Im not sure but I think if you turn your head lights off they will turn off as well. Try that going down a dark road. After you try that at about 60 mph I dont think she will have a problem with it

Why does it bother your GF? Seriously, what's the problem with some ambient lighting? Is it she doesn't like the color, or does ambient lighting infect her soul?

Like gokartride said, it's not switchable off. If you wanted to go extreme, you could find which fuse it uses, or go nuts and remove each and every LED for it!

You already said you love it though, so I have to agree with others here and dump her to the curb. What you love she should respect and at least shut up and deal with it. You don't have to disrespect yourself to entertain her weird annoyance.

Yes it does.

ellinara here's an idea take your gf for a ride at night and if she pesters you about turning off the ambient lighting then switch off your headlights and calmly tell her," Okay done." She will freak out and never bother you about them again.

Get a new light-insensitive gf.

Seriously, if it's the two overhead lights that bother her, two pieces of electrical tape (or vinyl) will solve the problem for her. Or just one piece for her side, she can't complain about your side right. You, on the other hand, will have to give up your orange/blue. Your choice, between your motoring pleasure or your gf's eyes, which is more important.

What does this Ambient lighting look like anyways? I cant find pics anywhere when doing a search.... Ellinara, you should take a pic of your GF sitting next to the ambient lighting for all of us to see.

You can't turn them off. It is one of the dumb things MINI decided to do.

You CAN turn their intensity down to an unnoticable level by dimming your instrument guages... The ambient lights will dim with the guages, at the lowest setting they really don't put out much light at all...

If you don't know how to dim the instruments, it is on the Tach, the left button. Just start pressing it until the guages no longer dim. If you hold the button down, the intensity goes back up.

Hope this helps!

it's not the fact that she likes it or doesn't like it. It's the power controlling thing. She's putting him on the training mode....bad sign. Change it to "gurly" color, pink/purple that would compromise her but it makes you look feminine :-)
ok..enough teasing you and your gf.

If you turn on the DRLs then you can drive at night with the headlight switch in the off position. Downsides: cannot keep high beams on, no fogs, and instruments will not be illuminated.

I don't know about you, but as a driver, I find the mood lighting very useful as ambient background lighting in the cabin. If it helps really the driver (hint, hint) to locate controls/gadgets the passenger should just go with it.

Your tailights do come on w/DRL but no interior or gauge lights at all.
