OK let me ask this

I waited 8 weeks for a MCS PW/PW at 30K and going on vacation
Thursday and said to salesman that if car is ready I can only
pick it up no later than Tuesday and he says I will look into it.
And he is off on Wednesday any way.
I call and he says I can have car but have to make a appointment.
I said the earliest I can get there is 6pm and he says he has
someone in that slot and has to be in NY for Tennis match..
I ask if some other sales person could take our money and
did not answer me and said we would have to get it after vacation..
I was sort of pissed he did not call me back and know I am spoiled
but this is 30K and they seem to not care about the matter..
How would you feel and is it just me?

I'd be Peeved of course, BUT it is a "Buyers Market" and they've already got your $$ and/or Your Heart set on that Car...They've WON!!

Appointments are made for a reason, have you checked out your dealership on Weekends, during Normal Business M-F?? They are swamped.

You can't blame your MA for having a Life.

I've not heard a Transaction being able to be transferred unless you go to the Sales Manager and explicately tell him that you will shop else where
if "so and so" remains your MA. You can try this, but I'm guessing it's a no win situation.

I would certainly check out the Service Department as well...make sure you do not get this kind of treatment from them.

Good Luck!!

I bet if you showed up with your money someone would be happy to take it from you. There is no law that says you have to stay with the same SA.

On the one hand, there's no reason why you should have to take delivery from the same MA you've been dealing with, if there are extenuating circumstances.
(After all, MAs do occasionally quit, so *someone* has to be able to take the money from customers that had been dealing with the departed MA).

But on the other hand, you're kind of putting them on the spot by saying that the only time you can take delivery is between 6 pm and whenever they close on Tuesday. Even if you're willing to skip the delivery inspection and familiarization "tour", there's more to the delivery process than tossing someone a check and taking the keys. At the very least, there's paperwork that needs to be done.

Talk to the manager and see if there will be someone else that can handle the delivery instead of your MA. But be gracious, because it may be that the only way they can fit you in during the limited window you've given them is if someone stays late or they bring in someone that might otherwise have been off work that day.

I picked up my MCSm PW/PW last Saturday, my MA had called in sick, and another MA gladly helped out. Like was mentioned before, be gracious and ask for a favor due to your schedule.

BTW, new pics of mine in my gallery

OP: Call early tomorrow and arrange to have someone else make the delivery. Happens all the time and shouldn't be a problem (except for the 6pm thing - they might be all booked up already.)

Thank you, the look exceeded all of my expectations. I'm getting lots of looks. I came out from work today, and 2 people were standing beside it, pointing, chatting, and drooling over it

My MA (Richey at mini of nashville ) stayed late after closing for my delivery. I had some extenuating circumstances, and he was great. I also had to go on vacation before delivery. I chose to let the car sit there at the dealer, I wasn't taking it on vacation anyway.

bmwrider - I think we all can relate and sympathize with your sense of anticipation! I received my car the day before I went on vacation, and so it sat in the garage for three weeks...

SuperGreg - with you on the sport stripes! I come back to my car after work to either see people standing around it, or handprints on the glass

Happy Motoring!

I'd just chill and pick it up after your vacation. You won't be able to drive it while on vacation anyway and the dealership is going to keep it safe while your away. I had a similar experience (my wife was having a baby the same day the car was due for pick up). I just told our MA that i'd have to pick it up the following week and he said no prob, ..they held it for me (inside their service department's garage ...which was really nice).

I'd just chill and pick it up when it's a good time for both of you. Like others said, your MA is entitled to a life. He's probably had his tennis vacation planned for a long time. Just work w/ him/her and don't get all crazy!

I think the way car sales commisions work is probably still the same as it was when I sold long ago: the person who makes the sale (your MA) gets credit for a sale and half the commision if he doesn't deliver the car to you. If someone else does the delivery that MA gets the "back half" of the deal (half the $$, no notch on his belt for that month). That's why MA's show up in off hours to do deliveries.

I'd just relax and get it when you get back. Don't make the poor guy miss the US Open, it only comes once a year.

When I picked up my car, the payment was handled by a financial manager at BMW (next door to the MINI dealership). An MA handled the delivery of the car, but the money (I paid with a check) was not handled by an MA. If your dealership is the same way, it is possible that the financial people aren't there after 6 PM.

If you're not happy, let him know. If you have no choice or no recourse, ride it out then then when it comes time to do the MINI Corporate 2 question survey, blast him!

There is something powerful about that survey. My dealer actually did a "mock" survey asking me the same two questions to see how I would respond. They then followed up and asked why I didn't give them 2 fives (1 - bad, 5 - excellent). They then asked if there was anything they could do to make me more satisfied.

Several days later I get the "real" survey from MINI. Now, nothing may come of the survey but it seems that MINI places a great deal of emphasis on this survey. So much so, that my dealer implemented an "early warning system" to correct any < 5.

Congrats on getting your baby.
The lovely survey should include how you were treated at pickup time.

It wouldn't hurt to contact the GManager directly.
My Clubman arrived at the dealer on a Friday morning and they wouldn't cough it up till Monday @ 5pm.

Will also Say

That this car is Beautiful !!!!!
WoW..
I was really getting upset after reading about
Sport Suspension..
The Wife and I are really pleased after driving
the car that Sport Susension tracks and stays
flat into corners and really wasn't has harsh
a ride as I was thinking it would be..
I was looking over car before driving away and
said to salesman I thought I ordered rear
fog light...Opppps I slipped..
I ask sales person to get me a price and will see.
I even had a salesman come out to see who ordered.
He said that was one of the best ordered cars he
had seen..
What a feeling to drive away in a car that I hope gives
wife and I many miles down the road.
I followed the wife home and yes she drove it home and
she was so excited and thumbs up and the smile..
I like this forum and really thought I would be blasted
but was really surprised at the responses and really
thank you all..
Joe
Talk to you all after Vacation in a week
