black - matches all the other grilles on the front of your car.

Chrome. That way it matches the trim around the headlights.

I think that with a white roof chrome looks better however with a black roof or body color roof, black trim or better yet, body color trim looks better. My first R56 [murdered by a drunk driver] had body color HL rings and grill surround and I will be doing the same with Nigel's replacement.

Now, here my big but, ()(). Do what ever YOU like. That's the beauty of a MINI. Make it how you want it. That's why so many of us orderd and waited for for weeks.

Chrome. I agree that blacking all the chrome out would not look that great with the white. You can see that on the pillars for the side mirrors. It is sort of boring. Chrome looks better with that color blue.

If you go with the black grille trim, you would need to black the headlight trim as well. Even so, I don't think it would be an improvement.

Chrome - blue & white is a long way from "mean".

Another vote for chrome. I have the JCW black surround and grill, but I also have a black roof, so I think that makes a difference.

Now that you say that, I'd say a whiteout would be kicka@# !

No one has really done it yet and it would seriously look amazing with the white roof. Paint all the chrome trim pieces white and you would have a really nice/unique looking car

EDIT:
Here is what I mean

Go Chrome

I like the chrome as well.

Baeg Mac, 08 MCSa, CR/B, bonnet stripes, leatherette, checkerboard interior, premium, sport, cold weather and convenience packages, zenons, white turn signals, rear fogs. Ordered 6/28, completed 7/13, shipped 7/19, picked up in Mentor 8/6.

Chrome. I was looking into the whole blackout thing and it looks good on the blue cars, but you have to go all the way to make it work (roof, mirrorcaps too).

Thanks all.... I actually placed black electrical tape on the headlight rings this morning and didn't like it. It's the white that kills it for me.

So, this morning I changed the black back to chrome anyways.

Anyone want to buy a JCW black grill surround?

Mark

Looks like someone beat me to the whiteout!

I was going to suggest WHITING out everything people turn black, because it would look amazing on your vehicle.

Black does not work on your car, but white would be killer!

Definitely chrome.
His response changed my opinion. The black does disturb the color scheme on the car, unless you do black out all/most of the chrome to make things match.

Another vote for chrome

For what it's worth, the chrome looks terrific on your car -nice balance between the black, chrome, blue and white. On some cars, black looks better. As other posters have said, it depends on the body and roof colors. I have a PS/PS MC sitting on the dock at Southampton waiting for a ship now. I plan to replace the chrome grill with the black JCW grill, but will definitely keep the chrome trim. I think that combo looks better on a PS car. You have a very nice looking car!

Just for shiets and giggles, I blacked out one side this morning... I just don't see it happening with the white.

Yeah stick with the chrome unless you want to paint the roof black and ditch the stripes. Then all the trim would need to be black.
