ha, didn't know the 2 seaters could even go that fast
were they the GE engines? I work there
That was a F-16D, Block 40, I believe. And yes, I'm pretty sure it was sporting a GE engine. Top speed, Mach 1.9, or about 1280 mph and we were using every bit of throttle.
The fastest I've legally gone is an indicated 103 on the front straight at Thunderhill.
What gear were you in? And what flavor Cooper? I did 95 indicated on that same straight last weekend at Thunderhill (first cars on the newly paved track!! Yipppeee!), and only if I hit the entrance right.
It really tore through some of the other corners fast though, oh my!

Cool, yeah once they went to the bigger inlets they can get up there in speed.
sounds like the JSF will go through the same issue.
I drove with a GPS and the difference from the digital tach to the GPS speed was 5%. Keep that in mind when you're speeding. I took my MC to 186 kmh, which displayed around 171 kmh on the unit.

(I’ve got a plain Cooper.)
I got to 4th by that time, 3rd doesn't stretch past 90. This was in the Quentin, the 05 MCS.
I wanted to try the same think in JustACooper, but we didn't like the idea of driving separatly to the track. We're planning to try with Tristan at Buttonwillow in October. In December there's an event at Laguna Seca, that's close enough we might take both MINIs and compare and contrast.

Mine seemed to run out of pep at about 5800; the increase in revs over that didn’t seem to get me that much. I had trouble with T9; in fourth I really slowed down going up the hill, but in third I seemed to wind out. I needed a 3.5 I guess.
I was very happy with the non-S, although people had to lift to let me by when I passed them; I was pedalling real hard to get by!
um, 65 legally. besides a track I think 65 is about the legal limit (besides a few freeways in Montana).
Montana changed their highway/freeway speed limit to "reasonable and prudent" (you could still be given a speeding ticket) for only a year or so. It was changed back to a number quite a few years ago now.
And yeah, as someone mentioned before, there are 80mph limits in some places. The standard limit in the three states I've lived in (Montana, New Mexico, Arizona) has been 75 on the freeways.
I do nearly 34,000 mph at least once a day. Probably much more if you take into account the movement of the solar system through the galaxy, and so on, and so on.
Depends on if you mean with a Mini or in general. I drove my last BMW on the Autobahn - in the unregulated areas I took the car as fast as it would go.
Are you distinguishing between first generation and second generation cars by using Mini vs. MINI? If so, it may not be clear to all...
Mini usually refers to classic Minis, the Austin/Morris/BL/Rover version, not the BMW version. MINI refers to the BMW brand. I don't know of any MINI model which wouldn't get to 105 pretty quickly.
