R56 Do you drive differently after watching The Italian Job?
I watched the movie 2 days before picking up m MINI and have driven like Charlize from the first time I got behind the wheel! Took my mom out for a drive today and for the first 15 minutes she was yelling at me to "Slow down.. we are going to ge killed!" (It's not my fault, she does it herself!)
Do I drive differently? Well, as a matter of fact, I do. I now routinely take shortcuts through sewer pipes... Unfortunately, it's caused another problem:

(P.S. Check Ebay if you want a cheap copy of either edition.)

Yeah, when I go through a construction zone I always wonder if I could get along with a slalom.
I don't drive after watching that movie. If I got near my car I'd light it on fire. That's such a horrible movie. Horrible. Ok..so I only watched it once but I sure wont be making that mistake again.
Watching either film didn't change my driving, because I first saw the old film well before I drove a car. I remember seeing the first film on TV when I was a kid, but I'd always pick up the film when it was already in the chase sequence; didn't see the first half for nearly 15 years. If you get the new DVD version of the old film, the disc includes an interesting sequence that was cut from the final version of the film of the cars driving around a ballroom to the waltz "Blue Danube".
What surprised me about the re-make was it didn't suck as bad as I expected it to. It's not the best film I've seen, but it was certainly fun to watch, particularly after I bought my Mini.

Watching both versions is required of new MINI owners!
Don't have my MCS yet, but, maybe I'll check back in in a couple of months (when I finally do) and we'll see if the movie(s) affected my driving.
I've now seen both, the remake twice, and while I really did enjoy the original, I certainly prefer the newer version. But both are definitely required viewing fare for MINI owners!

I drove different routes after The Italian Job, does that count?? I had my IB/W Cooper in '03 (like Charlie's car) and so I would cruise by the front of the theater when the film was letting out. All the little kiddies pointed and shouted in excitement. I did not drive on the sidewalk, although several parents seemed concerned that I might. That was a fun time to be driving a MINI.
I drive like a bank robber EVERYDAY, I get frustrated when I see poor driving in the movies.......Perhaps a better forum would be....do you drive different after watching SPORT touring racing, Hell ya.
Gee, I didn't think Arlington had pipes that large, or even Dallas...
Hey, it's my theory that the movie is best enjoyed if you live in a large city. Somehow I don't think it's the same on the plains of Kansas.
