Add a couple of microfiber towels to go with the Hydro.

Practicing my car washing/detailing skills on my old car until my MINI gets here -- Hydro is the bomb! I just hate that my current ride is so much BIGGER and therefore uses more product!

Thanks. I just ordered the Gen II kit

Side question: I think the third brake light on my new MCS is red, but I could swear that I saw a WHITE third brake light on the JCW mini that was in the showroom when I bought mine. Thoughts? If I can get the white one I will upgrade it right away, as I also got the white turn signal indicators

I have lots of micro fiber towels from a group guy I put together on x5world with Wayne's Towels

Anyone mention glove box divider? Simple but effective accessory for the mini.

Not everyone likes them though. I had a pair for my M3 and hated using one. Decided buckling with the seat moved back and then sliding forward to tighten works just as well for tracking. Ended up getting the Schroth QuickFit harnesses (now sold). Unfortunately, those are not yet available for the R56.

Epic is a long lasting sealer wax. I practiced using Hydro on my Acura, and it lasted a lot longer and looked better than the carnubas i was using before i heard of Hydro. I finally did a full detail on Yuko and put a coat of Epic on there, and it's just like its name, Epic.

I'm going to detail again after i get my clear bra on, and hit it with another coat. Then a coat of Hydro the next time i wash. I park outside on dirt and even with the morning dew and the constant coat of dust (Yuko has a white top), everything still comes off easily with a duster. The Acura on the other hand is caked with dirt already.

Ok so do I need Epic and Hydro? How/when do i use them? Sorry Im new at this and want to make sure I clean my car right, so it shines, doesnt get swirlies (she's an AB/W).

So you take Hydro and put it on the car after you wash the car (when its still wet) and then dry as normal...what do you do with Epic? I dont get it. Sorry Im really new at this car stuff...hehe its my first car ever!

Thanks!

IMO, if you have a garage, Hydro might be enough. I really like Epic because it's holding up against the elements.

Epic goes on like regular wax, apply in little chunks and when you're done, wipe off with a microfiber towel.

Hydro can go on as you dry, but i like to dry the car first and then apply to a dry car. I think it lasts longer this way.

I'm all about durability, your needs may vary. I suggest you browse through the various threads in the detailing section before you start. I picked up quite a few tips and opinions in there and everyone is pretty helpful. I'm not one to tell anyone what to do, only share my experiences. You may find something better suited to your needs in that section that isn't a Prima product... like Zaino or like my buddy uses One Grand Blitz Carnauba Wax exclusively on his M3.

They work well even better with a stud set.

Make sure those caps are plastic.

The metal versions have been reported to corrode on the TPM Stems so tight that TPM Stems had to be destroyed to remove the cap.

Something to do with 'electrolysis'.

Thanks for the heads up . Unfortunately, they are metal. Maybe I'll just put a little vaseline on the threads before installing them. That should take care of any possible corrosion. In addition, I live in AZ where the average humidity is about 9%, so I think I'll be ok .
