Maybe you turned the light off manually. Over the rearview mirror you have the toggle switches. I think the light switch is the second toggle from the the left. Toggle and see if the light come on. Hope this helps.

I have my interior light turned off deliberately. In my car the interior light can be automatic, manual or off. My car is a 2008 MINI CooperS w/JCW tuning kit. Take a look at the toggle switch. To turn the light on, toggle the switch. Now it is in automatic mode. To turn it off toggle again and the light will turn off. To turn it off permanently hold the toggle for about 3 seconds and the light will stay off permanently.

You might also consider that you've somehow blinded yourself. Put two fingers on the lights, such as your index and middle fingers. If the following two things are true, the lights might be working fine, but you might be blind:

1) The lights get warm, but don't illuminate the cabin.
2) You can't see your fingers.

P.S. I'm not a doctor.

I have a 2004 Cooper S. My interior light also does not automatically turn on when the door is opened.
Any advice?
