R56 State of Florida - MINI Sun Pass
State of Florida - MINI Sun Pass
Got one for my MINI CooperS. Registered it as per instructions and was told it is usable in 24 hrs. Two days later I drove up to Winter Park, FL on Florida's Turnpike. When I exited a Police Cruiser was sitting on the side of the road and as I passed I got the Blue Light. I stopped and was told that my Mini Sun Pass had not registered on the scanner. The State Trooper was very courteous, checked with authorities and yes, my Mini pass was active. Reason for not registering on the scanner was the placement of the Stick-On Mini Pass. I had adhered it to the strip of tinting going accross the top 4 inches of the windshield. Tinting is not metallic, just plain tinting and evidentally the Scanner can not scan the Mini Pass because of the tinting . I now have a new Mini Pass placed lower on the windshield in a non-tinted area and hopefully it will be read by the scanner. I'll be going through the toll tomorrow and let you know the result. Moral to this is: Do Not Put The Pass On Tinted Glass.
I have mine in center top of windshield, well below the tint and placed so it completely hidden by the rearview mirror from inside the car.
Have since read that if you have the sunroof, you can attach at forward edge of rear glass panaromic. It will work perfectly and be hidden from outside of the car as well.
A NEW ONE, you couldn't just relocate the old one? with a little heat (hair dryer) they unstick without problem.
