i was wondering if anyone has ran into a problem mounting a thule fork mount into the oem mini base support system? i just bought the thule 518 echelon and it is not even close to mounting to my base rack. need help please.

 

Look at the Thule.com site and check out which adaptor you need for the Aerobars. I think it's this one: XADAPT9. Just be aware, it is not an exact match for the MINI OEM rack, but it gets you closer. You'll need to do some mods (washers & whatnot) to get it to work.

If you are looking for a fork mount, this one is MINI specific: Rocky Mounts EuroLariat SL

So, if you're going this route take a peek at this thread (R56 OEM rack) for an idea of what the Thule bike rack compatibility issue is. Some folks have made it work, I struggled with my older Velo (used an xadapt1 that just wasn't stable for me).
