R56 Foglights?
I was always taught to use them in heavy rain (very heavy rain) as well. That's about the only time I use them round here, we hardly ever get fog, but the spray on the freeways can be really bad. When you can't see the tail lights on the car in front of you, its probably a good time to turn them on.
Was driving in heavy rain last weekend on Hwy 15 north of Frederick Maryland. Between the rain and the road spray I found I was getting very close to slower traffic before seeing their running lights, and folks were coming up on my rear at pretty high closing rates, so I turned on the rear fog. It bought me a much more comfortable cushion from those closing on my rear. When the rain lightened up and the visibility improved I of course turned it off. Mission accomplished. Looks aside on a small vehicle like this I think it is well worth the investment. FWIW

Actually, you can add either a red aftermarket or a white aftermarket light, to fill the hole in the rear bumper, on the justacooper (1st gen.). The red will serve as a added brake light - and you can add a flasher to it, where it blinks for about five times then stays on with the brake. The white one serves as an added rear backup light. MossMini or Minspeed has them. I don't know if they fit the 2nd gen. There is also a dual light kit for the "S".
