PW or CR?

Just when I thought I had all the details of my car down and ready to order, this little voice snuck into my head and started me thinking about Chili Red. Ever since I started looking seriously at MINIs, it was always PW/B. Hell, when we remodeled our kitchen last year, the color scheme is PW/B. No, really. PW cabinets with B *****. I would honestly drive behind a PW/B MINI or see one on the street and think, "That's exactly the color I want on my cabinets." I love the black/white thing (former wannabe mod in high school ), with little touches of color (like Union Jack side scuttles), and it reminds me of my mom's Mercedes that she had when I was a kid (which was otherwise a crappy car, but beautiful). The setup I've got feels very retro sports car to me: lounge leather, English oak, chrome chrome chrome, etc. (which I love)

But the CR is soooooo pretty, and peppy, and fun (and bright, in my SF fog). There's a CR/W R53 with a Union Jack roof that's been parking near my house of late, and it's just so dang cute.

Augh! Any one want to weigh in? FWIW, the car has to be parked outside (one car garage, and my 68 Cougar gets the spot - age before beauty ).

Both your choices were my MCs color finalists until I ordered a MCCs.

There are a ton of red coopers out there already.
White looks great with the UJack, too.

Im having the same problem.... All my cars have been some shade of silver in the past and I kinda want to break that mold. My decision is between a SparklingSilver/Black or Chilired/black. Im steering toward silver as a safety net....but that red is calling me! One issue I have with red is that its not metallic. I am super **** about the finish of my cars..no swirls @ all in the paint, ever. I feel that the chilired might show swirls more readily?

Anyhoo... Im in the same boat.

I have a Chili Red & White, but my wife would rather I had a Pepper White & Black. And to be honest, if I had a choice (I didn't because I bought mine used and it was such a good deal I couldn't refuse it) I'd probably go with a PW&B.

I have a PW and it's a first for me - my last few cars have been red. I think CR is a stunning color but I just could not keep my eyes off the PW and that's what came home with me! Amazingly enough, it hides dirt really well.

Oh, and of the 4 cars I've owned in my life, two have been grey (silver and anthracite), two have been green (teal/lake green and avocado).

that all red is pretty slick, Cybergypsy. I've seen a couple around town, and they look great.

How does the red paint hold up in weather? I know that traditionally, red paint fades faster than any other color. Or is that just a matter of keeping up on your OCD detailing?

pw or cw

i have a pepper white with a black top and i like the color, but i have to park my mini outside at night. i own three cars and the mini gets short- changed. if i were able to park my mini in a garage at night, i probably would have picked something else, ala, astro black, br green, or astro blue. but, what are going to do in my situation? pepper white looks new and clean always. long live pepper white.
sincerely, don c.

Those were the two colors I was considering, and then I saw BRG in person, you cant choose a color your color chooses you, just try to see them all in person and one will call out to you.

My first Cooper S ('02) was CR/W and I really enjoyed that car and the color. I bought it because I think CR/W is a classic MINI color combo and re-sale is great on a red car. I have always liked white cars so my '07 Cooper S is PW/B with black/rooster red interior and I really have enjoyed this color as well. Many of my friends and my wife say they like the PW/B color better and it really is classy color combo. I had planned on getting Tucson beige int but changed my mind at the last minute to carbon black/rooster red to "honor" my first Cooper S and I really am glad I went with this combo-I think it gives the car a sporty look inside.
Whichever color you choose you will be pleased, but Pepper White is a very nice color.

I agree the PW/B is very classy looking and ultimately there is no bad MINI, but consider for a moment the look of the car when clean. True PW does not show the dirt as bad as other colors, but neither will it shine as well as other colors. The darker the color the better it will look after detailing. My Chili Red is so fun to keep clean because it looks so good clean.
So either is good if it gets you into a MINI, but Chili Red looks better after you spend your detailing time on it.
(Besides, red is faster)!

I almost always buy red cars, both of mine are red now, but I make my choice this simple way. As you are driving around admiring the car you want to buy think about which ones catch your eye. If it is PW then that is your answer. If CR is what does it for you then you will know that as well. A clean PW/black or PW/PW can look really sweet, just not what I wanted. I love red so much I got CR/CR so my big dilemma was the roof and mirror color.

The thing is which car to you go to in a lot full of minis, me, I love red, yellow and blues......I have a silver Mini now and I just hate silver(had 4 BMWs in a row all silver)so was going for the yellow but might get tiered of it soon, so all red.....and go from there.

We were in the exact same situation. It was a toss up between pepper white with a black roof and red with a white roof. We finally went with a red, and I dont regret it. The kicker was that my wifes best friend had a classic mini when they were growing up. They drove that car everywhere. It was red and white so the color combo brings back good memories for her.

The white is an awesome combo with tinted windows though. Looks very clean. Black wheels also look amaxing on the white car IMHO. Either way you cant go wrong.

Pepper White...I'm biased. I do like Chili Red when done up like the MINI Challenge car, though. Factory versions...I'm all for Pepper White.

Well, I received a sign today. Walking out from work this afternoon, parked smack in front of my workplace, was a PW/B MC, chrome ext package, sunroof, manual, 15" rotator spokes, and sport stripes! Not exactly my build (no rear fog and no white turn signals, punch carbon leather instead of lounge, and piano black instead of English oak. But damned close enough!

So I'm off to order my MINI! I'm so excited I can't stand it.

Just got back from the dealer. Should have known better than to just go in and should have scheduled an appointment with my MA. Turns out he was off today, and we were handed to Slimy Sales Guy (didn't think the MINIverse even had these!) who tried to tell us that there was a $1500 dealer markup (that my MA had never mentioned, in fact had said didn't exist for the MC, just the Clubman), and that the install on the sport stripes came out to about $100 more than what my MA had quoted me, etc. All that stupid slimy car salesman bs that just pisses me off.

Held my ground (flatly said we would be happy to come back when my MA was there, or go to another dealer), he did the "let me check with my manager" shtick, and got the car for MSRP, no markup (whew). Am I now stuck dealing with this slimeball until my MINI arrives, or can I get my MA back? I feel like this guy's going to try to nickle and dime me on everything my MA said he'd do for me (swap out the chrome mirror caps for black ones, free floor mats).

But the most important thing is, my MINI is ordered! Just waiting now for its production number.

Here are his/her stats:
PW/B MC
Premium, Convenience packages
chrome exterior
white turn signals
rotator spokes
front/rear fogs
sport stripes
driving lights
Union Jack scuttle
chrome line interior
lounge leather (black)
English oak
cream color line

Oh, and driving home, we were discussing MINI names, and husband wanted to know how you knew the car is a boy or a girl. I said, quite matter-of-factly, "It tells you." He asked, "Like how, in the paperwork?" I said, "No, silly, the CAR tells you." "How?" he asked. "It just DOES."

it sounds nice! only thing is why just get the UJ scuttle, get more UJ to match or none. that's my only suggestion, but it sounds like a really nice car!

don't want to go overboard on the UJ thing. Will probably get a UJ license plate frame, but don't need the rear view mirror, or mirror caps, or UJ on the sunroof.

At least yet...
