Peaches, you don't need therapy and if you lived in my house I would just chew you out for getting caught.

You know that old saying, drive with a third eye on the rear view mirrors.

The MINI helped, him wanting to get one and all [may be the reason he noticed you in the first place and decided to pull you over.]

Peaches, you are so funny.
I got my first ('04 MCS) in Germany -- and the lure of the autobahn! When the turbos came out, I couldn't NOT get one!!! So I did, and I will admit that I got the spedo up as high as it could go! (The digitial readout went a little higher... ) But coming back to the US, my husband and I both had to watch each other like backseat drivers! I am admittedly the worst for speeding (in the Mini of course), but somehow he ends up with the tickets.

I had gotten my mini back in feb. and about a month ago i was on my way home and i got out into the left lane to pass some old guy and two cops pull up behind me i was at speed limit at 65mph one gets around me and a suv pulls infront of me so i was practically boxed in and the second cop pulls up behind me and pulls me over....
i got three tickets
1.using the left lane incorrectly
2.unclean licence plate( i had the brackets mini put on around my plate when they came in)
3. i was supposidly driving too slow
if i were to get a ticket atleast be for speeding
how could i get a ticket for that bs
court on july 16.....
just my luck..

Did you say or do anything that would make him mad? Did you wait for him to come to you, with your hands on the wheel in plain sight? That sounds pretty wacky ...

Why do they have to be "tickets". Why can't they be "donations" to the local or state agency. Like fund raising by NPR or something? When a police officer pulls you over you would just give them your donation receipt and they would say thanks, and give you a verbal warning and send you on your way.

I have kinda fantasized that if gas prices got really high and people actually drove the speed limit, would large portions of the police force be unemployed?

Bad fantasy - that's like wishing for "no more mosquitoes". It SEEMS like a good idea but then birds don't have enough to eat and so-on and so-on. With fewer cops, you'd have a massive ripple effect with donut shops going under ... and so-on ... :-)

From the time I got my drivers license (1976, for those that are counting) I averaged 1 speeding ticket a year. Then, in 1999, the nice CHP officer said (as he handed me the ticket) "you know, we all use radar here; just something to think about". I ordered a Valentine One the next day and have not received a speeding ticket since. And I have never been pulled over and not received a ticket - I've decided that that the officers are so jealous of my manly good looks that they always give me a ticket.

OMG you are right. Whew. No more day dreams like that.

Besides I can never drive the actual speedlimit, it is just to low.

I was pulled over by a cop the week after I picked up mine.
He just wanted a closer look at my Mini...thinking of one for his Mrs.

If I'd have cried, he'd have maced me before cuffing me.

This thread brought me bad luck. When I was motoring with the group of MINIs in Charleston, SC tonight, we passed a Sheriff Deputy going about 11 or so over (51/40). By the time we saw him, I just tossed my hands up because I knew if he got us he got us. Well sure enough the lights and siren came on, but he never showed up behind me or the MINI in front of me who was going about the same speed... I think he caught a MINI further back in the pack that I can only assume was doing even more over. *whew* I feel bad for them, but am thankful I'm still ticket free.

I am so very glad that my girlfriend is buying a radar detector as a present for my new MCS.

You're absolutely right! Therefore, after my "incident" the other night, I planned and just finished an impromptu first road trip with my new MCS and I think it helped me control/channel my enthusiasm, or at least my zest for speed. 400 miles, no pullovers, no tickets.

Still grinning, and so is my hubby. (I let him drive for 100 miles or so....) Now, I'm nearly through the break-in period!

Yep, it sounds like I jinxed you. Glad to hear you dodged that bullet and are still ticketless like myself!

I like the way you think!!! The louder my music is, the faster I seem to go---however, I do need to be careful here in the 'burbs.

I never imagined myself on a track, but actually, the officer who stopped me suggested that I do just that!

We do have a very active MINI club in the DFW area and we can certainly help you get on a track. Many of us are somewhat addicted to the track thing.

I don't know if you need therapy or not. If you do, I'm there with you. I do know your post made me laugh. I picked up a new Mini last Saturday and I know exactly what you mean.
