R56 Disc Player versions/revisions
Hi there,
Does anyone happen to know the different revisions released for the car stereo?
I do not have the SAT/NAV option, so my stereo can only read/play regular audio cd's and mp3 cd's.
I've read that people who have the SAT/NAV option can create and read/play mp3 dvd's.
Question is, how many versions of the stereo deck are there and if they're available for purchase standalone without the SAT/NAV.
Also, does anyone know how to remove the 2 second gap playback in between tracks via mp3 playback? I have certain albums that do not have a 2 second gap but in mp3 format, the track would sound like it has a pause transitioning to the next. The problem does not exist with playing regular audio cd's, however.
Any insights and thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

The CD drive in both versions are the same, but the Nav system has a separate DVD drive for the map data. The drive for the map disk is the only one that can play an MP3 DVD.
I wouldn't be surprised if retrofitting the DVD drive also meant NAV, wiring harness changes, and more making a huge chain of changes neccessary. If your goal is to get lots of music on the go, the iPod adapter and an iPod is probably a more economical/workable bet.
I don't believe the MP3 player built into the car is capable of perfectly seamless track transition- in my experience it's a bit basic compared to the more advanced computer-based audio software.
