First 95% highway mileage report

Drove my car down from norcal to socal.

380miles
put in 10.6gallons
~35.8MPG.
AC on 100% of the time. Temp outside was anywhere between 88F to 103F

Average speed was +12 speed limit. Please no safety talk.

Current miles on the car is less than 900miles.

MC, or MCS?

I got 33.3 mpg on a recent 100 mile trip to San Jose that was mostly hwy, no A/C, and speed at left lane flow of traffic.

The same trip a day later, but with A/C on in hot weather, some bumper to bumper congestion, and more city driving, I got 28.8 mpg.

MCS manual. In 100% city I was getting 29-30mpg for 3/4 tank.

all calculated by hand not using the trip computer. trip computer indicated 37mpg

Very good average for such a low mileage MCS.
It will surely get better after the initial break-in period.

The avg. mpg readout from the OBC does tend to be a bit over optimistic as I found too after doing the manual calculation.

I will be tracking my average MPG for my long trip to Minnesota from Florida and then back and I only have 800 miles on my odo now.

Im making the drive from Scottsdale, Az to Malibu, Ca as soon as my Mini arrives. Should I wait a while before I drive that far (for break in purposes)

I had about 400miles when I drove mine 380 miles continuously. I've done the same for my past BMWs and they are all fine. Having said that YMMV

I don't think you need to wait, but you should probably vary your speed often during the break in.

Good deal. I can't wait to see what mine gets on the freeway. Most of my mileage has been ~35mph type driving both around town and curvy roads but I'm still averaging 30mpg with an MCSa that I drive pretty hard.

95 miles on first fuel light.....

How many miles are you getting on the first fuel light. My first two tanks I have gotten 90 and 95 respectively. The other 9 lights I am avg. 48-50 miles per light. I am driving 90% highway with no AC in my new manual MCS. I am loving the mileage I am getting. When I filled up last time it held 13.3 gallons and I had 31 miles to empty according to the OBC.

i have the navigation and when the first light turned off i was over 100miles into it. this happened twice. i remember because i commented to my gf that we went over 100miles and only 1 light (just) turned off.

in my 380mile drive, i was left with 4 lights and the obc showed 18x miles to empty. the car drank 10.6gallons of fuel to fill up

Not bad. I'll get 35-36mpg on some highway legs, less on others (uphill/downhill makes the diff I think). Overall about 34 hway, 28-29 city. It goes over 100 for the first light to go out.

Maybe.

So far the best Freeway mileage I've seen was during my break in period. I have 12k on my car now.

Has anyone noticed a switch over to summer gas yet? seems like that's what I'm starting to get now, I did about 37mpg on the freeway today according to the computer. Could only get about 32-34mpg in the winter.

2nd trip.
391miles 11.0x gallons
35.4MPG. I was a bit more heavy footed but didn't need to use AC as much so it offset some of the more aggressive driving.

Car now has 1800miles and the engine still feels tight. I will do an oil change within 500miles.
