Opening Rear Hatch

Trying to figure out a couple of things with my newly purchased (used) mini.

- How do I open the trunk with the key in the ignition? The doors are unlocked but the hatch won't open. It only opens with the key fob which means I have to turn off the engine, remove the key and press the button.

- I have the mirror ***** with the arrows but nothing happens. Are those there regardless whether the mirror package is installed?

- What does the sport button actually do? The car feels peppier but at what cost? I also notice with this on and low revs, the engine is prone to stumbling.

- Are the multi-colored interior lights an option? i only have seen one color on mine.

Thanks!

Try these...
Hatch push button is centered under the overhang, right above the rear license plate. If it only works with the fob, back to the dealer!
Have you tried twisting the **** to the left or right and then moving it like a joystick? If it don't work, dealer.
The sport button quickens the response time for the throttle and reduces the steering ratio. You sacrifice nothing by using it. Maybe gas milage, but that is only because of the impulse to drive harder.
Multi color lights are controlled by the (I think) last toggle on the right in the overhead toggle set...thingie...domahickie....deal. Whateveryacallit.
Welcome to the MINI world. Drive it like you stole it!

Know need to have the key in the ignition, keep it in your pocket go to the boot touch the pad above the license plate and open.

My S has the switch and the adjustment is quite easy. You may want to read the manual.

The sport button is were life begins . It greatly improves the response as you go thru the gears. Its a blast.

Not sure about the interior lights, but I believe that if you have the interior convenience package you have the lights.

Have you tried unlocking the doors via the toggle switch and then trying to open the hatch? I think that should work.

I've read in some places that the sport button increases boost a little as well, but I'm not sure if that's true. You may want to try searching for a thread on the topic.

I didn't order the convenience package on my 07 Cooper S and I can adjust the mood lighting color. The toggle switch is located near the toggles for the lights above the dash. Kind of hard to explain where it is, but you'll find it.

I would suggest spending an entire day just playing with the features of your MINI. I was surprised at how many things I didn't know about the car. Enjoy!

Boot open common problem

I have problem on mine too - that boot does not open without key. I just haven't bothered to take it to dealer. I've seen other posts on this problem.

The switches on the roof is where you change the mood lighting . I think it is the second switch from the right side .

Thanks for the comments.

Well tried the above this morning and same problems.

- Hatch doesn't open with fob in/out of pocket or with handle. only trunk release button works it. I wasn't sure if this wa a programming issue. I don't find the manual very useful detail-wise.

- Mirrors still do not work. **** thing has no effect whatsoever.

- Lights will try at night but I have tried that toggle before and no change in color.

Off to the dealer I guess...

Lights have to be on to change interior color lights. Also note, it's just the above the seat belts, in the door and overhead toggle pin lights that change-- not the dash. (There had been a question about that in a thread I read at one point...)

Have to unlock the doors using the center toggle to open the boot without the fob. Boot won't open when it is locked.

I thought that there was something wrong with my mirrors as well, but I just needed to do what the previous poster suggested-- use it like a joy stick, rather than just as a ****.

Sport buttons tightens steering and increases throttle sensitivity.

You may want to check out the "Things I Didn't Know About my R56" thread-- lots of goodies there.
