R56 Caliper paint
http://g2usa.com/brake_caliper_paint.shtml
I ordered mine from pete at minspeed.net
They have red, but I don't think they will have a perfect match to chili red...you may have to go to a custom shop if you want a perfect match, but it will cost A LOT more
I am looking forward to it...the painted calipers look fantastic! I wanted to paint the calipers on my BMW, but the car is dark green...green calipers? Naahhhh! It will look great on the mini!
I just did the calipers on my Laser Blue CLubbie S and it came out looking great! I used the DupliColor kit, cost all of $19.95. And they give you enough paint to do 3 complete cars, I used about 15-20% of the paint and I put 3 coats on each caliper.
I think it looks pretty cool and it is almost a perfect match for the LB paint. Take a look at this Picasa web album and see what you think:

It took me about 3 hours total, and that included cleaning the inside of the wheels - they look almost brand new now.
I also moved the flames around to give it a different look, I feel like I'm 16 years old again. Now, has anyone found a steering wheel spinner that works with our cars?
Oh yeah, I'm doing the chrome trim around my lower grill tomorrow - found some chrome tape at AutoZone for $3.00, we'll see how it comes out - pictures are sure to be posted, lads...!

Thanks for the props on the caliper paint, I'm quite happy with it. The color on the box is much lighter, I was worried that it would turn out much too light to be an effective match. However, once I popped the lid on the can, I did a little happy dance right there in my driveway
As for the flames, yep, they make the car look like it should have dingle ***** across the windshield and a Virgin Mary statue glued to the dash. They're just for fun right now, I'll probably yank 'em off once I've had my first high-speed pursuit =8^0
Say, you wouldn't happen to know where I could purchase a Virgin Mary statue, wouldja?
Havin' Fun,

Havin' Fun,
UKThunderAce wondered:
"What is the G2 paint and where can I get some Chili Red to do my calipers when the car gets here?"
I wouldn't worry too much about getting a *perfect* color match, the calipers are not right up against the body of the car. As long as they are a reasonably close match, it'll look great. And keep in mind that the calipers are not exposed to direct sunlight, so they will appear a shade darker anyway.
Secondly, the G2 system seems awfully spendy at $43. The DupliColor system I used was only $20 and I have enough paint left over to re-do the calipers 2 or 3 more times if needed. Additionally, it is a "one-part" system, no mixing of hardener is required. You can open the can, use what you need and then re-seal the can for future applications. The G2 system must be used all at once.
One benefit of the G2 system is that it is rated to 980 deg. F, the DupliColor is rated to 500 deg. F. But I doubt you'd come anywhere close to that figure unless you're gonna run a full-on race car. For street use 500 deg. is more than enough...

Depends what street you drive on... I've seen caliper temps of 600F+ after Dragon runs... my G2 paint held up well to that... I've seen folks burn off the Duplicolor paint under similar conditions. That's the big difference. For the vast majority of daily drivers who never see those braking conditions, you're correct - the Duplicolor is good and much more cost effective. I've used both.
oh man I shouldn't have posted that photo w/ my board of wood stop guide!!! -I'll get a better photo of my car out in some patch of flowers in the country or in a grungy parking garage or some other cool scene. My board of wood really helps to give enough room for my wife to get the stroller around the front and side of the car w/o scratching my beloved Mini! Plus I have a work bench and workout equipment in the garage ...this helps me maximize my space.
okay, better photo coming!

I really like the G2 kit...it really is such a hard layer that there is no need to have left over to re-do them...I've heard of people needing to touchup their duplicolor once in a while...plus, G2 guarantees there stuff for life of the car and if it flakes or anything they send you a new kit, so you have a lifetime kit. Either way painting them is such a plus because brake dust just wipes right off...I went about 4-6 months before I painted mine and boy was it a paint to clean them compared to now
