My father has 120k on his 03 Cooper S, and it's still ticking. He's never had any major issues, and he's a **** POOR owner. Only does maintenance when he absolutely has to. He did/does a lot of city driving, and the factory oil change intervals were FAR too long IMHO. His car does burn a decent amount of oil at this point (which I think is a byproduct of the super long initial oil change intervals).

If you want a car, any car, to last a long time, be REALLY good with the maintenance, and change the oil often.

I picked my Mini up Saturday and it now has 395 miles. If it blew up tomorrow I would order another one ASAP. This is the coolest, most fun I have ever had in a car. I'm always looking for the "long way" home.
