R56 Should I purchase a buyback car at a great price?
Here is my 2 cents:
1- To take the risk, be it small or large, on a buy back car, it would have to be WELL worth the stress involved.
2- If you were to option out a new MSC with the exact equipment & colors YOU would want, would it be less than this buy back?
3- There is nothing like the peace of mind of a brand new car made just for you. even if your new car has some problems, they are your problems, not someones elses who wanted out of the car.
4-If someone really wanted out of a car, do you think he would care for this car the way you would? Probably not.
This story line is like a great drama,

On one hand, the fact that a Mini dealership is still willing to sell it and put its name behind it is a good sign - on the other, as someone already mentioned, if something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
well i did a lot of homework. I read every thread coffeeman ever posted on his car, and the only 2 negatives I came up with were bluetooth failure & factory paintwork.
According to service records (which dealer happily provided), the bluetooth was serviced twice and now works. However, based on personal experience, the root issue may have been the Treo that coffeeman was using. My dad has a 2008 Range Rover and a new Treo as well. The bluetooth is very quirky with his Treo and responds differently almost on a daily basis. This is consistent with coffeeman's original complaint.
Car has never been repainted or touched up by the dealer, which leads me to believe the only paint issue was at the port. Having purchased a work truck with a similar paint repair, I can honestly say this is no big deal.
The $1,000,000 question is: when I am tired of this car in 18-24 months (which is my average vehicle turnaround), will I be stuck when I try to sell it? While the vehicle is optioned and priced very well, I imagine about 50% of buyers may be turned off completely by any vehicle with a buyback status, no matter how insignificant.

2. My spec'd out Mini is between $34,000 - $36,000 depending on the various stage 5 options I choose. The buyback car is priced much lower, though the original MSRP was in the $34K range.
3. Agreed.
4. Normally I would agree. However, after reviewing all of coffeeman's posts, it appears he is quite the car afficionado and takes care of his stuff.
FYI, I have decided not to purchase the car.
While it is a factory CPO car, I read the fine print that said the CPO warranty is not valid in California on this particular buyback car. The MA at Towson confirmed this by speaking with Mini corporate.
Looks like they'll sit on this car for another couple months I guess.

That's that. In your original post you said they agreed to sell it for $6k less than original price, then you said only $4k less. Then you say there's no warranty on a car that's less than a year old with 8k miles on it bought from a dealer? My friend bought an 05 Porche Carrera last year from a private party and she got a warranty. That makes no sense to me. If that's their final offer they will never sell this car IMO. The selling price would be over 30 grand!
Yeah, no warranty on such a new car is a deal breaker. If they would compromise, and say, not warranty the paint, but cover at least the driveline and interior, it might make some sense. Someone who is going to convert it to a racecar should offer them 10k for it. They won't take it this year, but maybe they will later on. I have faith it will be there later on.
I apologize if my statements confused anyone. Allow me to clarify:
1. The asking price is $4K less than MSRP
2. I believe I can successfully offer $2K less, thus bringing the selling price to about $6K less than MSRP
3. The vehicle DOES have the balance of the factory new car warranty. This warranty is in full effect and valid in all states.
4. The vehicle is CERTIFIED PRE OWNED by mini for an additional 2 years / 50K miles beyond factory warranty. For some reason, the CPO warranty is NOT valid in california. I don't know why that is, but it is clearly stated on page 1 of the warranty printout for the vehicle.

Car is Mini Next CPO'd for an additional 2 years, 50K miles beyond original factory warranty. I don't know how much extra the dealer would come off, but I imagine if I ask for another $3K and wind up with $2K that might be fair.
Neither NADA nor KBB have used prices for 07 coopers yet...does anyone have another way to value this car?
