Cooper S Curiosity

I have my Cooper S basically spec-ed out, but am curious if you were to build an 08 MCS on a budget of 25k, how would you order yours (Color, options, etc.)? I need to stay under 25K. Thanks for your input.

I'd skip any Step 5 options on the configurator when you build your MINI. That will really drive up the price. Manual gearbox instead of auto. . . cheap seats. After 5 years if you want, you can always recover them in leather! Do you REALLY need the convenience package? Nav system? If you spend hours in your car driving all over the place, probably so. Otherwise, skip it!

Anyway, that's my 2 cents!

I asked myself the same question of myself but I showed little restraint.
I'd order what's in my SIG minus the Comfort Access, Auto AC and Xenon...You can afford an extra $50 right?

BTW, if you live in a moderate climate, toss the Cold Weather and put the Xenons back in.

I just ordered mine. Came out to $24,100. Lightning blue, blue roof, LSD, armrest, upgraded "HiFi" sound, fluid silver interior surface, and a multifunction steering wheel. Kind of a "low profile" MINI, if there is such a thing!

I'd also go for the Red/Red.
Cloth seats
Standard 16" wheels (sell them and replace them with Rota wheels)
DSC
LSD
Anthracite Headliner
Rear Fogs
Standard headlights

Not sure what that adds upto, but I'd want a lot more options. My 2007 MCS cost more than $10,000 over your budget.

Mine was 24.5K. LSD, HID lamps, cold-weather package, MFSW, sport suspension. That's it.

If I was to do it over again I MIGHT look at the sunroof. But I'd probably do it the same.

Just start adding stuff. Watch the number at the bottom of the right side. If the number goes over 25k remove the last option. You should be all set then.

Did you factor in taxes. Depending on where you live they can be pretty high. Mine were about $2500.

Most options can be added in the future, but some are cost prohibitive. That's why a lot recommend LSD. Good luck.

LOL, that doesn't give the interior or accessories pages much of a chance!

You ain't kidding. When I first went through the configurator, after the fun of building, I looked at the price of what I had created and almost had a heart attack. You really have to watch what you're adding or you'll easily exceed budget in a few clicks.

The Leatherette seats in MIB got VERY cold in Indy's winters. If you live where it falls below freezing for more than a couple of days, you will appreciate the cold weather pack.

I am slightly surprised that DSC was not a must for many of you, I was under the impression that I would regret it if I did not order that option.

So many options...

This is the price range that I am going to try to stick in when I order my MINI. Some question come to mind when I was building mine and alot depends on what you want to do in the future. For me, I would end up replacing the suspension and wheels so there was no point in getting the sport suspension and upgraded wheels. I would, however, want the LSD, Cold weather, Convenience, Premium but I might forgo that because I dont really care for the Moonroof, Anthracite headliner, Metalic paint, Bonnet Stripes, DSC, HID, I think that is everything I did. Point is, you have to figure out what your plans are for the future and then say well if it is going to get replaced eventually anyway, why order it from the factory.

I'd find a way to sneek an extra $5000 under the table that the wife didn't know about!
