How long for delivery to CA?

Hey MINI community...first time poster. I just placed my order this past weekend and was wondering if any CA MINI owners got theirs in less then 6 weeks? It seems like east coast people get theirs in about 4 weeks or so while west coast it normally takes 6-8 weeks?

AAGGH!! I can't wait!!!

Well, once it was done it only took about 5 weeks to get here. And that included a week at VDC. But from order date to delivery, well, you can see in my sig what the timeframe was.

Mine was about 6 weeks or so. Depends on how long your wait is at the docks and if you have any options that need to be installed at the VDC. Part of the fun is the wait. Remember to track your ship and call your MA for up to the day progress if in doubt. The OL does not keep up with the movement.

Mine took 10 weeks. It was such a long wait, but well worth it.

Booyun,
Time to stop lurking and reveal myself, too. I'm in the same boat. I placed my order for a pepper white/black MCS on April 7th and my car just went from On Order to Scheduled for Production yesterday. I played it pretty cool for the first... day. But now I'm dying. I think my coworkers are sick of me talking about my new MINI.

Mine (MCS AB/AB prem, conv, sport, winter, lsd, chrome int/ext)was born last Friday the 11th. Still awaiting transport to exit port. I guess that means it waiting to be loaded on a transport truck to take it to the ship. I hope the ship is ready to sail when it gets there.

Mine took over eight weeks, but that was in early 2007. It had a few delays along the way. It got to the Southampton port and was scheduled to boar the MAERSK WAVE, but the ship filled before it was loaded. So it sat in Southampton for a week before getting on the ISOLDE. At the Panama Canal, there was a backlog so it sat at anchor for awhile before making passage.

booyun and scruffy, I'm in your boat (so to speak) as I just ordered mine on 4/9. Maybe they'll all come over on the same ship, we'll call them cousins.

I still don't have a production number though. My MA is not fast nor very responsive to call and emails. Anyone know if we can talk to other MAs at a dealership if ours isn't much help?

My car has been at the VDC just over a week. The dealer has "no idea" when it's going to be brought down to them. As far as getting it from England to LA, dates are in my siggy.

K3rm1t -- Beware of talking to other MA's [if you bought your car at Brecht like me]. We talked to two other people when my MA wasn't at work. One said the car would be at the dealer last Friday. The next day, my husband talked to another MA who looked up the car, confirmed our names and options and said, "yes the car is here". When we finally talked to our MA, he said that the car was still in LA and he had no explanation as to why the other people were telling us otherwise.

Ha! So what you're saying is that the MAs are all out of their minds. How hard should it be to look up information in a computer? MINI should just give us the same access to the build process information that the MAs have. I assume that's what the Owner's Lounge is for, but I hear it's always way behind on updates.

And yes, we ordered from the dealer.

ahhhh...but then they would have to give us access to important things such as service bulletins. and unfortunately i don't see that happening anytime soon.

Congrats Booyun!
Congrats Scuffylookin!
Congrats Pillar!
Congrats Cutters68!
Congrats K3rm1t!
Congrats Ivygirl702!

Wow, this is a lot of expectant parents.

I had heard dealer delivery was anywere from one to two weeks after arrival at Port Hueneme. I got mine on day 15.

Late in the day on the ship's scheduled arrival I called these guys:

Oxnard Harbor District Port of Hueneme
333 Ponoma St
Port Hueneme, CA 93041
(805) 488-4615

The gentleman was reluctant at first. (I was a terrorist wanting to know if the ship I needed to bomb had arrived?)

I enthusiastically replied that I had a MINI on Wallenius Wilhelmsen's Madame Butterfly and I wanted to make sure it arrived.

Robin Casady's posted great links. I used them all. Most of you will have your VIN number memorized before your MINI even gets here.

Oh... mine took almost eight months. But that's what I get for ordering a 2008 in June of 2007.

How often do boats leave? I may have ordered mine on 4/9, but not having a production number yet makes me wonder how quickly the order was actually placed. Wouldn't it be fun to have a viewing room at the VDC or port so we could all stare at our babies, just like the hospitals have in the baby wards?

I got my production number a week after I ordered it. They were a bit backed up due to the launch of the clubman.
