Blackout - Satin or Gloss?

Asked this over in the mods section, but I think I may get more exposure here.

So I am getting ready to order the parts for my car, and am not sure whether to go with gloss black, or satin.

For those that have done this, can you give an explanation of why you went that way? Also, if you had it to do over again, would you go with the other?

Pics are nice. Thanks!

[edit] Here is pic of the beast completely stock for reference.

Next steps: Black Wheels, 1" Drop, Full Tint, Black out.

It's up to you. Satin black IMO gives a meaner more hot rod look to the car. The gloss black will add a cool look with some class. What do you want your car to look like in the end? I found a picture of an IB mini with painted fenders, clear lights and cool rims and I just fell in love with it. I am adding my own touch of style but I want to design my Mimi to look like that picture. Think of the overall end result and plan to reach that idea. Just throwing things on your car might not give you a end result you are happy with. Post a pic of your car like it is now and let us give you our opinion.

I actually happen to have both satin and gloss black parts on my car - the gloss JCW grille surround and everything else in satin from Lyle (Vinylstyles). I like the satin much better - cause it matches the matte wheel arches and the front spoiler. There is a pic in my gallery - plan to post another one in a few days once I get the beltline blacked-out (already did the handles).

gloss will match the jcw grill and the sheen of the overall paint (if you install it), and satin will match the arches.

i've gone both ways and i still can't figure out which one i prefer, lol

i definitely like the satin more....

like someone else already noted... the satin gives it a meaner look.

I really like the contrast between the shiney body panels and the satin trim pieces.

Just got my chili red/black clubman this afternoon and am going to be blacking it out - I'm leaning towards gloss since the roof/rear is gloss and the grill surround I've got only comes gloss. I know the beltline tape is sort-of semi-gloss but that's ok...

I just did my beltline this evening in gloss. I agree that the satin would match the arches, but as mentioned the gloss matches the roof and also the pillars nicely.
Whatever is chosen doing the beltline makes a big difference in the lines of the R56. There is no separation between the roof and lower area now. It brings the car "down" a bit. Great simple mod.

PW/B- Went with Satin as the HL & TL are clsoe to the wheel arches which look more satin than gloss. HL, TL, Beltline and Gas Cap. Signature picture will help but check gallery. Also, Lyle from Vinyl Styles has a huge gallery that may help you with your decision.

go with satin. If you do the grill surround or headlight trim, make them body color!!!!!! it looks WAY better than the chrome trim pieces, IMO. I just did this to my car, but don't have the pics quite yet (soon though) but clearly I'm biased

here is the pic - everything is satin, only the grill surround is gloss (the OEM JCW one) - if anyone wants to trade his satin for mine drop me a PM.

Next thing - replace these wheels with Rota RB Blacks :-)
