Ok! I'm in!

Hi Everyone,

I've been mulling over options for several weeks, and finally pulled the trigger today. Please see the image attached from the configurator. If all goes well, I'll have it by mid-May ... (fingers crossed). A gentleman who was picking up his car today said that he got his in only 4 weeks (wow). I've went with a minimalist approach, just picking the few key things that I really wanted and negotiated with the dealer to throw in a fair bit of accessories.

The sunroof wasn't a real option for me - the support bar was a few mm above my head and my hair was constantly brushing it. But without the sunroof there's plenty of room - I'm 6' 6".

2008 Mini S
Pure Silver w/ black roof $500
6 speed transmission
limited slip differential $500
Cold package $500
brushed silver dash $250
leather multi-function wheel $250
chrome mirror caps $100
16" bridge spoke wheels w/ all-season tires $0

FREE Accessories, fully-installed
- iPOD adapter
- extra set of mirror caps - in PURE Silver to match my car
(I saw this look on a convertible and it's sharp)
- carpet mats - front and back
- rubber S mats - front and boot
- tire valve caps - union jack
- slim line black plate holders
- 4 wheel locks
- 2 MINI digital tire gauges

This will be great - I've been driving my girlfriend's 2005 mini w/ automatic every chance I could for the last year - it's the most fun that a person can have while seated ... :-)

Best regards,

Jeff (NJ)

No rear foglights just to complete the toggles on front dash?

Cool, another Pure Silver.

Congrats. Check out the 1st Gear forum on how to track the build and transport of your MCS.

Contrary to popular belief, we don't drive around backwards in the fog in NJ ... :-)

I was planning to add after-market MGs, etc - so those extra available switches should come in handy down the road.

Very nice, PS/B is a great combo. You have those freebies committed or is that your wish list when you pick up the MINI?

Pictures when you take delivery is a nice thing to do (or else, we hang you by your thumbs).

Congratulations and drive fast and safe.

The freebies are absolutely in my contract! Technically, the 2 digital pressure gauges aren't on there but the mgr won't mess w/ me on that. One is for my GF's mini.

I'm a big shutterbug - you can bet on getting pics!

Nice build, very nice. I saw a PS/PS at the AMVIV5 last weekend, and it was stunning. The freebies are nice too. Now start tracking!

I noticed you are from NJ...be sure to check out the Mini Owners of NJ forum on NAM. Where did you purchase your vehicle from? I'm impressed with the number of freebies.

Mini Owners of NJ? They made a forum just for me? Excellent! Now if only I can convince anyone else in my state to buy one we can have a club of 2! Of course I still need to wait for mine to get here :-)

I bought from Princeton Mini. My gf had bought her 2005 there and they have provided her with good service. That's important. I also like sticking w/ the shop that I used for test drives etc (so long as the price was alright). And I liked the mgr.

Thanks for the compliment on my freebies. I probably could have gotten a bit more but really didn't want anything else. A good rule of thumb is that you can get the destination charge in accessories for free. Just be ready to buy, and negotiate directly with the mgr. This works even better when you do financing w/ them (they get a piece of that).

The funny thing is that my iPod is so old (3rd gen) that it won't work w/ the adapter - I'll have to buy a new one just to use it :-) ha ha! I'm really happy about the pure silver mirror caps (matching body color). They are not an optional accessory (only available as a replacement repair part) so the mgr is taking care of me. They don't appear to be listed on any after market site that I've found. So ... I'll actually have a "unique" MCS :-)

I'm a bit of a perfectionist and the idea of not having the rear fogs would drive me nuts. Every day i would be looking down and would missthat switch. I hate the idea of mini's decision to put in three out of the four toggles. Hell i don't care if the toggle didn't work. Just stick a dummy in there and I would be happy.

Rear Fogs are good for not getting rear-ended in limited visibility.

Wow, people are going to be amazed when they see a 6'6" guy get out of a Mini. Cool.

I also purchased from Princeton. I didn't get to meet the manager, but I spoke to him on the phone a couple of times and he was a really nice guy. I didn't get nearly as many freebies as you did, but then again I didn't have anyone I knew purchase from them before. I'm guessing they gave you a break for being loyal.

I would strongly recommend that you get the rear fog lights. The MINI looks a lot better with them. Also, DSC is something you should consider as it could save your life and starting next year, all cars will come standard with it. I noticed that you did not order the white turns. With a color combo like that the yellow turns give it that "fried egg" look. a lot of people in previous posts have spent a lot of time and money to correct that afterwards. Just my 2c.

Ok - I'm sold - I'm changing my order to include white turn signals and rear fogs. Heck, it's only $200 and I really DO appreciate the feedback. I just emailed the dealer and will follow-up with them on Monday (my order was placed late Sat so there's definitely time to change it).

Now . . . does anyone know where I can get these accessories?
