Mine will open the door and start the MINI.
But then again it is a different starting system.
Just odd I guess that they would give you a Valet key that doesn't start the car, after all how is the Valerina supposed to bring you the MINI?
In the R56, the key fob for STARTING the car is not operated by regular battery...while the fob is in the ignition, it charged the "battery for starting it"....the "vallet" key is meant that if the ACTUAL battery for the unlocking buttons dies, you can still get into your car....even if your fob batteries die and you cant unlock the car, you will use the small key to unlock it, but the fob will still go into the ignition and it will allow you to start the car...the manual explains how all of that works...that is why the dealer tells you to alternate fobs every 4 months or so to ensure that your fob keeps a charge, refering to the part that starts the car....but NO the small key will not start it, i mean do you see a place for a key to fit???? That is a part of the security system in the R56, nobody can steal it without YOUR key fob so, why put an alarm in it? Unless you can hook a computer up to it that can crack 2 or 3, 9 digit rolling codes...good luck with that ...even though it CAN be done...if you're good...

Hi-Yo Pure Silver, away!

There are a lot trucks in my area where the tonto is behind the steering wheel, not covering the bed.
