Extended MINI OBDII Data support

Hello MINI Owners,

We have the opportunity to get a vendor to update their software for ODBII gauges to support BMW/MINI cooper to the fullest extent (all extended data). They would be interested in changing their schedules and make this a priority if there is 12 or more buyers to start this with.

The unit is DashDaqII:

In talking to them, they are willing to start by supporting custom PIDs that are useful. We can give them a (small) list of PIDs that is beyond the generic 26. The standard generic 26 values is useful but really worthless if you are trying to get missing gauges besides engine temp. The ECU supports far further data points that would be extremely useful to us all.

What do you all think ? Are there any takers besides my self ? Looking for input here to see what can be done and what our user base could be.

They are going to be releasing the software real soon to allow users to make custom gauges so that things can match your mini. They also allow for up to 24 gauges to be displayed currently on one display.

Check out the unit as it currently available:

Cheers,
Roberto

looks really interesting, custom gauges would be sweet. Seems a bit pricey however.

yeah, for 700$ you can get a UMPC setup (remember somebody posted the pics from his Sony Viao setup not long ago)

Yes, it is a bit pricey. However when you compare it to what is out there, it will support far more than any other vendor and will overall cost less.

Here is an example:
That comes out to = $657.00 (not including tax and/or shipping)

Then to mount, you need 2 Alta pods for R56 = 158.00

Grand total of $815.00 (not including tax and/or shipping) ...

For 659.00, you can get everything in the dashdaqii and more. I think the boost value is in the extended data set, on the first round of PIDs review, I remember seeing it there, not really sure at the moment.

    It's half an answer....

as there are lots of OBD-II data that is nice to have that isn't "standard" values. But for the R53/50/52 you are still very bandwidth limited. For CAN stuff this would be nice....

    Matt

also, PLX Devices makes something like this, but I'm not sure about all the details....

Yes one can do the same exact thing with a laptop, linux and opensource code ..... I think that defeats the goal of something small, compact and mounted, made to look like part of the car and still have the space inside still all usable. I currently do that with my laptops, really a pain in a small car .....

As for PLX, forget them, spent a ton of time and they are not interested at all. They will only do generics and to get everything/anything useful, cost nearly 1K (been there, done that, not happy at all).

As for R50-R53, I do not know a thing about those and will rely on the experts here for more info. Would be nice if we could have something that works for all, but that might not be possible ??
