How White is Pepper White?

I'm considering either getting a Stage 1 MCS or waiting for the Factory JCW (no need to tell me which one is better, I'll wait for the US release to figure it out). But their is one thing that is really bothering me. I've wanted a white car for a long time. Not sure why that is, but I love a pure white (my wife calls the white I like virgin white... completely untainted).

Anyways... long story short... How white is pepper white? Am I crazy or is it ivory and not "white"? I feel like I'm losing my mind over this and would not want to order it and then be unhappy, so I'm turning this over to the authorities (that's you! ). Should I go pepper white, or should I go with the back up of Laser Blue with Black top and stripes?

Thanks for the help!

It's not a pure white that's for sure. Alot of the pictures you see on here of the PW Minis don't really represent the true look of the color cause they turn out looking more bright white in the pics. I'd say PW looks more a shade between beige and pure white..a light cream color is the best way I'd describe it.

It's definitely not pure white, or ivory. It's not called Pepper White without reason.

Other fittingly descriptive names that could have been used by MINI:

Dreamy Cream
Not Really White
Time To Get Your Teeth Polished White (probably not a good marketing tool)
Hides The Dirt White
Burnt White

You get the idea. Put something pure white up against it and you'll see just how different the two colors really are.

Haha! I think that summed it up for me.

Is the "white" roof a real white? I know that Mini USA's website has a flash based paint program you can play with. Would they make a Mini that was all "Roof White" for a lack of a better term. It's not like they don't have that paint!

HABUTGO... Am I crazy or is that picture in your sig an all "white" mini???

If so, is that after-market paint. Have to admit I'm not a huge fan of re-painting a brand new car.

Thanks!

Yes, but if you want anything in a factory MINI approximating white, it'll hafta be Pepper White (for now).

if im not mistaken (which i totally may be) his mini is silver. the pepper white really isnt that bad, we have one and i think its really cute. white gets way too dirty IMO and as CR&PW&JB listed its "hide the dirt white"

Also, MINI won't let you put a "white" roof on a Pepper White car because it would look awful! It's either black or body (PW) color. My car is all PW BTW and it hides the dirt better than you would think. I notice my filthy windows long before the paint looks bad!

lol this is totally true! my MY/B and my PW both get washed together all the time and my mini looks filthy way before my husbands does. but i agree with the white roof looking awful with the pepper white. thus the color combo listed as PW/W really means PW/PW.

with the aerodynamics of the minis the way it is i highly doubt white would even look nice after two days of it being washed. the boot gets SOOOO dirty and plain white wouldnt be able to hide that at all.

I don't like the pepper white at all ON THE COMPUTER.

It's REALLY nice in person.

I understand that. I was simply trying to find out if you could get them to use the white roof paint on the entire car. Essentially making a W/W offering along with a PW/PW offering.

as nice as that would be for people that want a pure white car.... i highly doubt mini would do that. i mean imagine then how many cars they would have to personalize even further than they do now. if you look at the Astro black its kind of like a bluish black and the roof color that goes with other body colors is real black. imagine the amount of people that would want the same thing you want but in black??? if you want to .... id say go for it! but dont get too mad if they wont do it for you

Great Point!! I saw that Astro Black is out for 2009, with a new truer black in it's place. Now we just need to get them to give us our true white

Exactly. My recommendation would definitely be to see it in person. Most pictures I've seen here on NAM (some of my own included) tend to be over-exposed, so they make PW appear a lot more white than it actually is. Don't even get me started on how it looks on the MINI website...

I'm not at all a white car person, I'd even go as far as to say (no offense to anyone who has a pure white vehicle) that I despise white cars. However PW/B, on the MINI especially, is stunning.

The "Roof White" is BMW Alpine White

I'd love an alpine white MINI!

Agreed. It would be fantastic. You hear that Mini!!! 2 Sales waiting

Why does Mini have the Painting Section on their homepage if you cannot get a custom paint? It seems like the biggest tease of all times.

I have a PW MINI and a Alpine White BMW X3. The Apine White is pure white and the Pepper White is almost like an antique white. I love them both. I believe white always looks the cleanest, from a few feet away. The pepper white is a very classy white and with it you can go with just about any color interior. I think my next MINI will be a Pepper White with a black top and a red interior. Of course, it'll be a Clubman!

I have to agree with Standeck. My PW/PW stays fairly cleen looking, even here in Pennsylvania. I've also got to say that, after a good cleaning/waxing, there is more depth to the pepper white finish than some of the pure whites I've seen.

Peace !

I agree! An Alpine White MCS with Black Roof would be soooo hot!

I love white cars, but never been a fan of Pepper White. It hardly should be called white, its cream colored.

But then again my Astro Black is hardly black .

What I really don't get is how BMW can use Alpine White on BMW and Pepper White on a Mini. They are both "free paints" respective to their brands. So it's not like I'm asking for an expensive paint.

Did the market research really show that Mini owners wash their cars less often and would thusly prefer an off white and off black??

PS - Offtopic. Thanks to everyone for making today go by quickly!
