Suspension Difference Between Cooper and Cooper S?

Guys,

Is that true that the standard suspension setting of the Copper S is in between the standard Cooper and the Sport Package Cooper S?

If not, are there any difference between the Cooper and Cooper S other then 16" and 17" wheel?

Thanks

Alan

Well, the S has a turbo and a bit more power. LSD is also only available on the S model. Sport Seats, a spoiler, and front fog lights all come standard on the S model, where they are options on the base Cooper. There may be more, but that is what I notice first when looking at the configurator.

I can give you no firm information on the difference between the base and S suspension. I believe there is none. There is the sport suspension, it's available on both models. Beyond that, there is the JCW suspension. I think those are the only suspension differences; the base, sport and JCW. Hope it helps.

The standard suspension on the Cooper and Cooper S are different. They have differerent shocks/struts, springs and sway bars.

The sports suspension (S226A) on the Cooper and Cooper S are the same. They share the same shock/struts, springs and sway bars.

Suspension pieces (control arms, trailing arms, etc.) and bushings are the same on all Cooper and Cooper S cars.

The Cooper S also has larger front brakes. 294mm x 22 mm rotors vs. the Cooper's 280mm x 22mm rotors. They share the same caliper, so I assume you could upgrade the Cooper's brakes easily by buying the Cooper S caliper carriers and rotors. Pads are technically different too. Compound? The rear brakes are identical on both cars.

Wow, thank you AutoCoarsen. If you compiled that info yourself from the parts numbers, thankya. If not, where'd you find it already compiled?

Technically the Cooper comes standard with 15" wheels, and the S with 16", but those are both bumped up to 16" and 17" respectively with the Sport Package.
