DE Chroming almost complete

well i've started the de-chroming process and i have the belt line stuff just needs to be warm enough to put it on and the door handle covers are ordered from aesthetic creations.

yes the car is dirty, not going to get out in the cold weather to wash it and when it's warn enough it's raining

i got all the black out pieces besides the grill pieces from lyle at lyle's vinyl styles.
the grill pieces from outmotoring.com
taillight/headlight/fog lights and side lights tint from lamin-x
the blue and black S and the transformer MINI steering wheel from aesthetic creations

Which color lamin-x kit is that, and how do you find the light after install? I have the xenons, but I want to make sure I'll still pass inspection.

the back lights is he charcoal (darkest one) and the headlights and fog lights is gunsmoke. i had the tint installed today and haven't drove at night with them yet and i just have the regular headlights so you will get more light coming through.

i can't recommend lamin-x products right now. right now i'm not happy with it at all the rear lights tint, fog light tint and one headlight tint will not stay stuck down for nothing. the only ones i'm not having a problem with is the side lights on the fender flares and that's because it's a flat surface. i almost pulled the rear off today and i the fog lights will be coming off too. so far i think i wasted my money on this product and i had a tint place put them on so i know it was done right. it was around 70 degrees out yesterday when they got installed so i don't think that's the problem.

you can see in this picture where it's coming off on the right light (on the bottom corners)

the left one is coming off on the top corners.

The gas cap and side markers look good! I also REALLY like your steering wheel emblem! I'm a big Transformers fan too!

I'm sorry to hear about the tint. That's really strange that it's peeling off like that. When I had the tint on my headlights, we didn't have any problems like that. I want to say I had it one for about a month and didn't have any problems with it peeling off. In fact, when we removed them after we did the Joey mod, they were still really tacky/sticky and I had to pull really hard to get them off. You mentioned that you had it professionally installed so I'm guessing they should have known how to correctly do it using water and heating it up (if necessary), right?

Anyone have or remember seeing pics of a Sparkling Silver with headlight or grill surround "de-chromed"? I'm thinking contrast would look great, but pics would help before I start something.

yes he read the instructions that came with it so he should have known that it needed to be wet. also the parts that is coming lose is still very sticky to the touch.

i think i will be pulling it all off tomorrow anyways. i love how the headlights look during the day, but tonight was the first time to drive at night with them and i could barely tell i had head lights on. this was all city driving so i will go out and drive on a low lit road to see how i like it on roads that don't have street lights. no matter how good it looks during the day i would rather be safe at night that look good in the day time.

i have the regular lights so those with xenons should be able to see light through the tint better. with the regular lights it's almost like your headlights are about to go out, you know how they start to get dim and dimmer. i also can't see as far out with it also, so if you do a lot of driving on country roads or back roads with not a lot of street lights i wouldn't recommend them.

i will just have to chalk this up as an expensive lesson learned.
