Yup, I have one. Velcroed to the top of the dash. Very easy to plug it into the port just to the left of the steering column, under the dash. I take it off when the car goes into the dealer, in case they need to use that port for analysis.

It has four readouts that you can set for a variety of OBC functions such as: boost (MAP), engine load, coolant temp, air intake temp, voltage, mpg, rpm, mph, ignition, etc.

What does that do to the programming and warranty?

It's pretty sensitive. I put my 10 pound dog on the seat and all was well--until he stood up to look out the window. Apparently the motion set it off. Since then I fasten the seat belt when he rides with me.

The ScanGauge shouldn't have any effect on warranty -- unless you use it to reset a warning light that you shouldn't. I'm using it just as a read-out device to display certain info from the OBC. It is just like plugging in a diagnostic read-out device.

You can also use it to read error codes, and you can reset the error codes. If you reset a code, I could see how it could possibly have a warranty consequece -- if your resetting it caused a problem, and the dealer could determine that you had done it.

Mine is installed in a non-invasive way. I plug it in to the computer port, run the cable up the front of the dash, Velcro the unit onto the dash. When I remove it, the only trace is the Velcro on the dash.

Thing is, the fuel consumption features of the ScanGauge might not be as needed with the MINI's oem computer.

Even though we just ordered a MINI TODAY!!, I understand it will have a computer that measures stuff like current mpg, avg mpg, avg speed, miles to empty, etc. What I meant is that the ScanGauge does some of that. It does a bunch more too, though.

You can only read out so much of it at one time on the tach display. The ScanGauge adds four extra read-outs. I set the tach for time, outside temp, and miles to fill up. The ScanGauge is set to display mph, instant mpg, coolant temp, and either boost or load. One readout can be changed quickly to see voltage if you are worried about your battery, ignition timing if you are worried about the quality of the gas you just added, intake air temp...

For the data obsessed, it does have a trip computer for those who need another one. It does more than most need, but I find it worth it for the items I use.

High interest rate from Mini Financial. Refinanced at my credit union and dropped the payment $60 a month.

The idea that the CD goes to the beginning of the track
when you shut the car off [for a while like an hour maybe]
I find totally unacceptable.

I have complained in person, on the phone on those stupid
surveys and on that in the mail survey that this should be fixed.

It's a really big deal if you listen to MP3s that are on average
an hour per track.

The fix: I got this www.goldwave.com . It chops the 60 min
MP3s into six 10 minute segments and renames and saves them
automatically.

It does a lot of other stuff too but I don't care about that.

the one thing that is a MUST has to be the JCW aero kit...when i got to MINI to pick it up and they pulled it around and parked it next to one w/o it, everyone who was there that day ordered it one theirs, makes a world of difference...also the JCW Carbon Fiber Wing it really adds an amazing touch...a real head-turner...since then added alta 4' antena, shock tower covers,Seat Belt Extenders, Carbon Fiber Dip Stick, Cooper S Rubber Floor Mats F&B, and recently replaces front turn-signal bulbs with the BMW silver coated bulbs...I love the look of the driving lamps, but its just unfortunate that you cant turn them on w/o the brights being on, but other than that....there's so much that you could change, but it will start to add up on yah...AND as most everyone knows, MINIs dont really go under 55, so a radar detector is a necessity

with the low beams.

This "feature" drives me crazy. I is like the car forgets all your settings (radio, heated seat, sport, etc.) if you let it sit for more than a few minutes. This is really poor.

I just realized I read the description
at morristownmini wrong.

It appears they only work with the high beams.

I have seen another kit posted somewhere here
that included a manual override switch.

This might not help if you already have them.

I want those lights really bad.

I don't want them if they only work with the high beams.

All Season Control (+ Traction) is the standard traction control available on MINIs. Dynamic Stability Control is a superset of ASC(+T) and other programming that helps keep the car in line if you biff a corner by using individual brakes to correct your line.

Basically, you pay extra for DSC because it's not standard on the car.

The fog lights are H8 35W.

Can you replace them with stronger ones
and not have a problem?

I don't like the honey comb above the exhaust on the rear bumper. I haven't figured out what to do about it yet. Any ideas?

I agree--every time it gets wet--rain or washing--some parts don't dry out as quickly as others, and it looks like they are broken out.

these have probably all been mentioned....

the rain/snow dripping onto passenger side seat and floor when you open the door...i don't believe there is a fix!

the sunroof shade doesn't block enough sun so I will be getting one of those aftermarket shades but most likely will have the sunroof tinted along with the rest of the car windows.

no temp gauge - yeah, bizzare. i now see there are aftermarket gauge solutions.

soft soft horribly soft paint. argh! other than repainting my car, getting mud flaps or just going the clear bra route...not much I can do but be extra careful and park far away from others.

seat warmers - they are nice but at first will roast your **** on any setting and then when the lowest setting has been on a for a while...i barely feel them at all. my solution has been to cycle through the settings and on/off during my commute...lol!

Hey Folks, I'm forgetting about the nits/nats and focusing on the bigger picture.

What I am most concerned about is the "Cold Start Horrible Noise" thread under '07 Stock Problems: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=121761

http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-f...when-cold.html

Is this going to be a problem for all of us?

Who's affected here?

What is MINI doing to address it?
