Gear grinding from 1st to 2nd

Ive had my '07 MC since September. From time to time when i shift from 1st to 2nd with the clutch fully pushed in you hear a grinding sound. I don't know if that can be the synchros. Anyone have a clue as to what it can be?

I've experienced this a few times too, but only when the car was cold. I tend to just wait a minute before setting off & adjust my playlist for the trip.

I had something similar in a car I once owned. It was the clutch slave cylinder. I'd get it to the dealer right away and have them check it while it's under warranty. The part's not that expensive but I'm sure the labor is.

Transmission

There is most likely an issue with the transmission. Mine was replaced under warranty a few weeks ago; there is a service bulletin about it.

Sometimes I wish people would post an MP3 recording of these noises to educate the rest of us in what to look out for. =)

I know what you mean....only problem is that its kind of hard to record a random sound... I never know when it will make it. Sometimes it can go a couple of days without hearing it.

I have the same thing happen when it's cold, despite letting my R56 warm up before driving away. Seems to be synchros as I'm Very Conscientious about flooring the clutch before the 1 > 2 shift @ around 4K.

You wouldn't happen to have a bulletin number would you? I took delivery last April, just passed US 22,280 miles this morning, warranty will be coming up too soon!

Happened to me this morning as well, 1300 miles on her. Car wasn't warmed up yet. If it keeps happening (a lot) I might take it in but not too worried about it at this point...

There's a whole thread on this in the Issues section:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t=slight+grind

I had this from the moment I got mine last spring, and they to replaced the transmission at 5000 miles. It happened EVERY time I drove, the first few times I shifted from 1st to 2nd. If it's happening a lot, take it to your dealer.

I've had mine do it now at least a few times, but it only seems to be when it's cold. I have about 7k on my car.
