A question about the front bumper

This is a question about the vertical plastic pieces installed underneath the front bumper. These pieces are directly in front of the tires. I think they are called splash guards. I have the JCW aero kit front bumper by the way.

I did a DIY oil change on my car for the first time yesterday. I used ramps to raise the front the car. I noticed that when I drive the car up and down the ramps, the splash guards underneath the front bumper rub against the ramps. I am concerned that this rubbing may cause the plastic pieces to break or cause other damage to the front bumper. So during future oil changes, I would like to remove these plastic pieces first before I put the car on the ramps.

I inspected these pieces to see how they are attached. There is a regular 8 mm screw with a hex head and two other plastic screws with flat circular heads holding them. I can remove the 8mm screw easily. But I don't know how to remove the other two plastic screws with circular heads. They don't have a groove on them so I can't use a screw driver.

Does anyone know how to remove these plastic screws?

Sounds like you are trying to remove the "push-on /pop off" fasteners that are used throughout the car. If so you need a set of car panel remover tools to do it properly, ( Harbour Freight sells a set of 3 for about $5) you can also use 2 screwdrivers to lift the round top of the fastener and seperate it from its rivet, but you will probably damage it,(like I did). If you do you can purchase a package of them for about $3 in most auto stores.

Those plastic pieces you're talking about make up the front air dam.....and to remove those plastic fasteners is really simple. Just use a flat head screwdriver to pop out the piece with the flat head in the shape of a circle, and then you can pull the rest out....really simple and you won't damage them, so you can reuse the fasteners.

Something like this? I assume the notched ends are for prying up the round top of the fastener?
