Which Silverstars did you use ? They make four or five different bulbs, all under the Silverstar name. I used the Ultras... top of the line. I notice quite a bit of difference and they burn a nice shade of white.

And please don't be one of those... ummm... drivers.... out there who uses fog lights on clear nights/mornings.

Got a question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me quickly. Are H11 bulbs the same as H8 bulbs??? I know the front fogs are H8's, but when I search for PIAA H8 bulbs, they pop up as H11 H8 bulbs. Please shed some light. Thanks.

As for the bulb life, I did read somewhere online (sorry but can't remember exactly where) that the expected life of the Philips is about 350 hours. That's why I've turned off the daytime running light function and I'm carrying the OEM bulbs in my MINI just in case one of the new bulbs fail at an inopportune time.
Yeah, the 80% and 50% came from Philips directly. The lifespan numbers I think I picked up across a few hours of scanning the internet. Mostly random forums and such, but not necessarily on MINIs, so take it for what it's worth. But yeah, I don't have any personal experience, just passing word through the grapevine.

So I went ahead and ordered the Philips X-Treme Power. I went with these instead of the Vision Plus because I found a seller on eBay who had them for cheap. With shipping and all it was $20.98. That's about half as much as you'll pay anywhere else, before shipping. He has 2 more left if anyone is interested. Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...1%7C240%3A1318

I'll post what I think of them in about two weeks (not in hometown right now).

That's the same eBay seller I bought my X-treme Power from! He must be trying to clear them out since it cost me $35 plus shipping. You got a great deal. Looking forward to seeing your reaction.

Yeah, they were $19.99+$5 shipping two days ago. I was gonna buy them then, but they sold out. Then they just popped back up as $16.99+$3.99 shipping. What a deal!

Krim, I don't know why you fabricated that quote, but I'm disgusted by your behavior. I've reported your post with the imaginary "quote" to site management. Grow up.

Ok I grabbed the X-treme ones for $20 from that seller on ebay. They definitely shine nice and bright to notice a difference. Now I want to adjust them a little higher....I think I found a plastic screw to do it? Is that it and which way do you turn it to raise the lights?

IIRC, turn it clockwise. It's easy to return to the original position if it's actually counterclockwise. If you do it with the lights on, it's not to tough to tell the difference.

Lot's of choices for bulb replacement. Off the top of my head three come to mind. Osram Nightbreakers, Philips X-Treme Power, and Philips GT150 Power2Night.

Go to www.powerbulbs.co.uk Overseas shipping is free

Ok, I am having issues understanding the turn signal bulbs. In the manual, it says P21W, which from what I understand is the same as a 7507 or 7506 bulb. I purchased some 1156 bulbs, which fit in the front turn signals, but cause a shortage and rapid blinking. I was just trying to find some options for bulbs to match my xtreme white headlight and parking bulbs for the turn signals. Please help.

Anyone, can I use a 1157 bulb for the turn signals? I can't find a place that sells aftermarket 7507 bulbs.

This looks like a better deal here for the Philips VisionPlus H13 bulbs

http://www.bulbs.com/eSpec.aspx?ID=1...egory&RefId=13

Looks to be $28 with $12 shipping I will just check my local auto parts store also.

Yup, them's the ones! After shopping around, found the best deal with Alta. I just got them a couple days ago and gotta say- worth every penny compared to the standard bulbs!

Any heat issues with using a 65W bulb on a 60W housing? I got the Luminics titanium whites and want to know if it is ok to put these bulbs on factory housing with factory wiring harness....

I've heard most of these "upgraded" bulbs don't last that long; less than a year! What have you all with "upgraded" bulbs experienced so far?

I'm on 8 months w/ the Philips X-treme Power bulbs. I don't know how long they will last but I do know that the Sylvania SilverStars blow all the time.

I also have the Luminics titanium whites and really like the color and the brightness. They don't turn my headlamps blue when they are off. I did opt for the heavy duty harness just in case. After reading this post I'm not really sure if the purchase makes me a racist, communist, gay or straight, but I do like the lights.
