R56 Snow
I'm still getting used to posting on boards, I've never really have done it before. I'll get the hang of it eventually. I got my Mini on Saturday and it is awesome. I got a base mini with the automatic transmission and I'm going to add to it either from the Mini catalog or aftermarket.
Both ends; you don't want the back to try and pass you when you're going downhill...
I also put a pound less air in the back to let them heat up a little more. I was passing SUV's on the Cherohala --- the only other "cars" that could handle the mountain last week were Subies; I think I saw about 10 WRX pilots whooping it up but they waited 'til after the plows went through.

Hey, all,
I've got another question...Just came back from High Falls, NY where we almost got stranded in the snow with a Jetta and our friends did end up getting stuck in their Miata.
We are currently shopping for a MC, but after this experience were wondering if the additional power and larger wheels of the MCS would be safer in the snow.
I've read a lot of threads talking about the performance advantages of the MCS compared with the MC, but could it also be safer in the snow?? or no difference.
Would appreciate the input.

MC vs. MCS shouldn't be much different in the snow. MC might be a little easier due to low torque.
For snow you want narrower tires and absolutely snow. I tried to drive my MCS today with all season (10" of snow on my street) and I didn't have a chance. My wife's Focus with snow tires plowed right through.

MINI snow
My Mini was terrific in the snow. As long as you leave the traction control on. I spent New Years in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (German Alps) I was a bit hesitant in taking the MINI do to only having all-season tires. I as well as everyone else was very impressed. I avoided going down very steep hills, I wasnt sure if it would stop. Just keep in mind it is ONLy front wheel drive too.
New Counrty MINI rebalanced the two front tires and put the wheel weights on the outter part of the wheel and there perect now. Tire Rack is reinbursing me for the cost of a rebalance which is nice.
You have the Blizzaks on them, they are awesom huh. It's snowing out now actually. Im towards Hartford. By the way I grew up right next to Ridgefield, in the next town over from you, Bethel.
