Speaker Issue

Hey Guys, lately I have been experiencing some distortion on the front passenger door speakers. At first I didn't really think much till this past weekend it got so bad that I could not take it anymore. I brought the car in this morning (Assael Mini) and my service advisor was nice enough to order me a brand new speaker/tweeter. This is on a 2007 Mini with only 4k miles. I was wondering has anyone had the same problem with their speaker going out so soon?

i did. A week after they fixed mine it started sounding distorted again. I didn't feel like going back to have them look at it again, so i just bought an Alta CAI and listen to that all day . But seriously, i hope you have better luck, i might treat myself to aftermarket speakers for x mas this year

People have been reporting bass distortion from day one with the HIFI option. I replaced the speakers with Infinity Kappas -- end of distortion.

Do you guys know what size is the front speaker? I have a feeling if this don't work out I am going to replace them with aftermarket ones.

You need to read this thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=95211

Basically, the large speaker in the door is 5.25" but a 6.5" Infinity Kappa 60.7cs fits nicely. The small speaker is 3.5" but I had to get a Infinity Kappa 42.7i 4" because their 3.5" was way too small. You would need to check the installation hole size requirements on the speakers you plan to get. Generally, I believe people have been fitting 6.5" speakers in the large hole.

I'd skip the dealer replacing the stocks with stocks and go straight to aftermarket.
