R56 How crowded is your garage?
Oh My! I want that lift!
The roadster is a 33 Speedstar. It is the second one we are building. The first one was a fender-less topless car, this one will have a few more creature comforts. This one has a longer cockpit which is good for us, I am 6'3" and dad is 6'7" also it is better for resale value, people like cars that they can get into and out of without looking like a clown.

The Ford coupe is a 1930 and it was a customer car that is now gone.

We used to do this sort of configuration in our earlier, less complicated years--a '64 Porsche 356 in the rear of the garage, '68 SAAB Sonett on the left side, and a BMW 2002 on the right. Now, 2 houses and 3 decades later, the MINI sleeps ouside, the (same) Porsche has the right, and my husband's 5-series has the left. And there's lots more...stuff.

Sigh. Wouldn't it be nice to own that!
I have a friend who bought a 4 car garage and a kitchen. The rest of the house had to be completely remodeled (kitchen had already been done). He filled the garage with 3 Porsche 356s, and one of his "regular" cars. He still didn't have enough room.

But your garage is crowded too if you park the Mini to the left of the SUV! Throw one of those Ferraris out in the snow!
We've got a freestanding 4 post lift and our MGA, Spitfire, Z3 and even BMW 2002 can do an under/over, but the MINI's a little too tall to easily share the space. And you've got to remember to unscrew the aerial. For those who always considered lifts to be luxuries for the rich, they're now available for ~$1750 plus shipping and assembly. We managed to find a local dealer and had a flatbed tower help deliver it. Assembly took about 2 nights of work (with the benefit of having learned how to build one previously helping a neighbor).

I don't even have a garage.

As small as the MINI is, it really doesn't stack that well in our garage. It's taller than other sports cars. The lift needs a few inches above the top car to go up to get off the safety stops. If you stop on too high of a setting and don't leave yourself that room, you'd have to start playing games with taking wheels off to get your car free.

I actually need to get moving on making this happen... sleet and snow right now and the MINI is still outside...
My own garage is crammed with another 1800ES and our MCc stuffed inside nose-tail.
JerseyGirl's set up will be eerily similar... swap the MINI and the Spitfire... make the Spitfire black... and turn your wife's Volvo into a green 1800ES...

He was supposed to be done this summer, but nothing ever goes as planned. Need all new brake equipment for the rear, everything was corroded with rust. All brake lines had to be cut off. Broke five heads off the bolts holding the subby to the body. Maybe he'll be ready by next summer???
Gotta admit, since I got the '07, I haven't worked on him since....sigh...
